Job description

This team is responsible for the development, implementation, and ongoing operations of enterprise systems that support law enforcement, intelligence, legal, and administrative personnel. These systems are critical to FBI mission success and require reliable, scalable, and secure infrastructure to support operational continuity and minimize disruption. THIS POSITION REQUIRES AN ACTIVE, CURRENT, AND FULLY ADJUDICATED U.S. DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE TOP SECRET CLEARANCE WITH SCI ELIGIBILITY (TS/SCI) (NO INTERIM). The Systems Engineer SME will be responsible for planning, designing, and implementing improvements to infrastructure, network environments, and operating systems. This role supports both day-to-day operations and long-term engineering initiatives to ensure stability, performance, and security of systems supporting forensic and investigative missions., * Design, develop, and implement changes to network infrastructure, server environments, and operating systems

  • Provide day-to-day operational support for network hardware and enterprise systems
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues at both physical and logical network layers
  • Participate in planning, design, and implementation of new infrastructure systems
  • Perform systems integration across multi-enclave environments
  • Maintain network and infrastructure standards, including TCP/IP and related protocols
  • Diagnose and resolve complex communication and performance issues
  • Ensure systems are patched, compliant, and aligned with security accreditation requirements
  • Support certification and accreditation (C&A) activities
  • Develop infrastructure strategies for client/server systems and enterprise environments
  • Provide technical guidance on system architecture, storage, and application infrastructure decisions
  • Participate in Agile Release Train (ART) and Program Increment (PI) activities
  • Support implementation of DevSecOps practices and tools

SAFe 6.0 FACILITATION SUPPORT (Contract PM & Agile Team Support) Responsible for guidance and facilitation of SAFe Principles. Supports planning, execution, and delivery across Agile Release Trains (ARTs). One ART focuses on enabling operational insight through enterprise search and data discoverability. The second ART supports operational analysis and triage through visualization, data enrichment, and analytics within Global Mission Analytics (GMA).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:

  • 8-12 years of relevant high-level systems engineering experience, * Strong experience designing and supporting enterprise infrastructure environments
  • Experience with virtualization technologies (vSphere, VxRail, Proxmox, Nutanix)
  • Experience with network administration and security
  • Experience supporting Linux and Windows operating systems
  • Experience with Active Directory environments
  • Experience with network hardware (Cisco, Arista, SonicWall)
  • Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or similar)
  • Experience supporting cloud environments (AWS GovCloud, SC2S, C2S)
  • Experience with systems integration across multi-enclave environments
  • Experience supporting patching, compliance, and security accreditation processes

Additional Technical Experience Preferred:

  • Hybrid cloud and on-premises infrastructure environments
  • DevSecOps practices and tools
  • Experience with Elasticsearch, Splunk, or similar data platforms
  • Scripting and automation (Python, C#, or similar)
  • Experience designing and implementing secure systems in government environments
  • Understanding of forensic and investigative system requirements

Additional Experience Includes:

  • Experience participating in Agile software development and release processes
  • Experience working in mission-critical government or intelligence environments
  • Strong technical communication skills and ability to convey complex concepts clearly
  • Ability to communicate work using structured methodologies (e.g., SMART)

SECURITY CLEARANCE:

  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • Active, current, and fully adjudicated U.S. Department of Defense Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility (TS/SCI) required (no interim)

Benefits & conditions

  • $160,000 - $170,000 annually (based on experience and alignment)
