Job description

GeoAcuity is seeking a Database Engineer to work with a broad range of customers on enterprise database design and implementation strategies while applying Esri technology best practices. You will consult with customers to understand business and technical requirements, design enterprise data management strategies, and implement those strategies throughout the engagement life cycle on a major Esri enterprise GIS project., Design and implement robust, scalable, and secure database solutions to support mission-critical applications; collaborate with cross-functional teams during all phases of implementation including requirements, analysis, design, build/configuration, and deployment; configure and maintain database environments including backup, restore, high-availability, and disaster recovery strategies; monitor and tune database performance using industry-standard tools and methodologies (query optimization, indexing strategies); implement data security measures, access controls, and compliance standards across environments; automate routine database loading, maintenance, and monitoring tasks to improve efficiency; and provide technical guidance and best practices for database design, migration, and integration projects.

Requirements

5+ years of hands-on experience in database design, administration, and optimization for Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or SAP HANA; familiarity with database design principles, data loading techniques, backup and recovery solutions, performance monitoring and tuning, and security; scripting skills in SQL and Python for automation and data workflows; knowledge of Linux, UNIX, and/or Windows environments; exposure to geospatial concepts such as spatial data types, coordinate systems, and spatial indexing; ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to both technical peers and non-technical stakeholders; US citizenship with Active or Current (within 2 years of active) Top Secret Security Clearance with SCI eligibility; and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, GIS, or related STEM field., Experience with ArcGIS Enterprise geodatabases; CompTIA Security+ certification; knowledge of integrating GIS with other enterprise systems; and one or more industry-standard IT certifications (Esri, CompTIA, Microsoft, Amazon, PostgreSQL, or Oracle).
