Job description
The Defense Group of Leidos currently has an opening for an Network Enterprise Design Engineer Senior to be in San Diego, CA. The Network Enterprise Design Engineer Senior will implement and monitor security measures for communication systems, networks, and provide advice that systems and personnel adhere to established security standards and Governmental requirements for security on these systems.
Requirements
Must understand Kafka architecture (brokers, topics, partitions, consumers, producers) and have proficiency in Kafka CLI tools for topic creation, data publishing, and message consumption. \n
- \n Have experience in managing schema evolution in Confluent’s Schema Registry and have expertise with Avro and JSON Schema for data serialization., Have solid knowledge or experience in several of the following areas: Linux and Linux Commands; SQL and KQL or structured query ; Confluent/Kafka knowledge and navigation; Understanding SSL/TLS for data encryption; Java (primary Kafka client library); Python (for data pipelines and scripting); Go or Node.js (for building lightweight streaming apps)

\n Develop, Review and Maintain procedures related to the overall monitoring of Hosts/System \n

\n Perform defensive cyber operation duties including, but not limited to, ensuring server compliance with Marine Corps IAVM, and Tenable SecurityCenter. \n

\n Configuring and maintaining the health of Confluent, Kafka, data/ingest flows and supporting architecture. \n

\n Develop and execute Government approved security policies, plans, and procedures; implement data network security measures; conduct IS security incident handling; support Continuity of Operations Plan/Disaster Recovery (COOP/DR) plans and perform certification of IS and networks. \n

\n Perform weekly vulnerability audits, submit Plans of Action and Milestone (POA&M) and assist with patching for all DCO Division systems to maintain compliance with operational directives. \n

About the company
NGEN-R is the largest IT services program for the Navy. Under the Service Management, Integration, and Transport (SMIT) portion of NGEN-R, the Leidos team will deliver the core backbone of the Navy-Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI) and Marine Corps Enterprise Network (MCEN), including cybersecurity services, network operations, service desk, and data transport. MCEN is the Marine Corps’ network-of-networks and approved interconnected network segments. It comprises people, processes, logical and physical infrastructure, architecture, topology and Cyberspace Operations. The MCEN is characterized at a minimum to include Programs of Record that provide network services to forward deployed forces operating in the USMC.mil namespace and in USMC routable IP addresses; and Operations and Maintenance functions that provision data transportation, enterprise IT, network services, and boundary defense.
