Job description

Buro Happold is currently seeking an experienced AI & Data Consultant to join our growing Digital Advisory Team in the United States. In this role, you will help clients unlock the value of their data through advanced analytics, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and modern data platforms to drive better business, operational, and sustainability outcomes.

Here at Buro Happold, expect the exceptional.

From the projects you will work on to the clients we work with. From career-defining opportunities to an inclusive and diverse practice where we all contribute to a more equitable world. From our reputation to our relationships. Wherever your Buro Happold career takes you, it’ll be anything but ordinary.

Your next role

As an AI & Data Consultant, you will work with multidisciplinary teams to help clients transform complex, fragmented data into meaningful insights and actionable solutions. You will leverage modern data platforms, analytics, and AI technologies to solve real-world challenges across buildings, campuses, infrastructure, and cities.

You will be responsible for developing data pipelines, applying advanced analytical techniques, and supporting the delivery of innovative data products that enable clients to make more informed decisions. Working closely with clients, technology vendors, and project teams, you will help bridge the gap between technical solutions and business outcomes.

Your key duties

  • Build and maintain data pipelines and models within Snowflake and Databricks environments to support client analytics and reporting initiatives.
  • Develop and optimize SQL queries to transform raw data into clean, reliable, and analysis-ready datasets.
  • Apply artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques to generate predictive insights, automate analysis, and uncover opportunities within client data.
  • Support the development and integration of AI capabilities, including forecasting models, anomaly detection, and natural language interfaces.
  • Identify and evaluate practical AI use cases, assessing feasibility based on data maturity, technical requirements, and business value.
  • Integrate data from multiple disparate and often siloed systems into unified, trusted datasets.
  • Conduct data analysis to identify trends, quantify opportunities, benchmark performance, and support decision-making.
  • Translate analytical findings into clear recommendations that demonstrate commercial and operational value.
  • Collaborate with clients, technology vendors, and project teams to source, validate, and manage data across multiple platforms.
  • Perform exploratory analysis to uncover patterns and improvement opportunities within complex datasets.
  • Ensure data quality, governance, documentation, and best practices are consistently applied across engagements.
  • Develop compelling visualizations and narratives that communicate insights effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Degree in a quantitative, data-related, or built environment discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 2+ years of experience working with Snowflake and/or Databricks in a professional environment.
  • 2+ years of experience utilizing SQL and Python for data analysis, transformation, automation, or engineering.
  • Experience applying machine learning and AI techniques to real-world business or operational challenges.
  • Familiarity with AI and machine learning tools and frameworks such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, or cloud-based machine learning services.
  • Understanding of large language models (LLMs) and generative AI, including responsible application within analytics and data products.
  • Strong judgment regarding when AI-driven solutions provide meaningful value and when simpler approaches are more appropriate.
  • Experience designing and developing data pipelines and analytical products from complex, real-world datasets.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with attention to detail and commercial awareness.
  • Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Proficiency with data visualization tools including Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present technical findings to both clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Genuine interest in the built environment and the role technology and data play in shaping its future.
  • Candidates are encouraged to apply even if they don’t meet all requirements.
