Job description

We are a fast-growing Managed Service Provider (MSP) in the NY/NJ Metro area seeking a skilled and reliable Junior Cybersecurity Analyst, QA & Weekday On-Call Technician to join our team. This hybrid role is centered around cybersecurity quality assurance and the execution of ongoing client security projects, with a secondary focus on Level 2 help desk support and weekday evening on-call coverage. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, a passion for cybersecurity, excellent project management skills, and a proactive approach to IT security. This is a fully remote (work-from-home) position., A large portion of this position is dedicated to cybersecurity special projects and quality assurance across our client base. This includes planning, executing, and tracking multi-client security initiatives - from security tool deployments and platform migrations to compliance projects and email security rollouts. Help desk support and traditional cybersecurity monitoring make up a smaller portion of day-to-day responsibilities.

Key ResponsibilitiesSpecial Projects & Cybersecurity QA (Primary - ~60-70% of Role)

This role will own and assist in executing ongoing security initiatives across the client portfolio. Representative projects include:

  • Email Security & Encryption Deployments - Configuring and migrating clients to outbound email encryption solutions (e.g., Barracuda, CheckPoint/Business Premium); DMARC policy implementation and enforcement across client domains
  • RMM Platform Migrations - Assisting with migrations from legacy RMM platforms (e.g., GFI) to modern solutions (e.g., Ninja RMM), including patching policies, alerting configurations, and scripting
  • MFA Rollouts - Deploying and auditing multi-factor authentication (e.g., Duo, Microsoft 365 MFA/Conditional Access) across client user bases, tracking remaining users until completion
  • ThreatLocker Deployments - Rolling out application whitelisting and Zero Trust controls (ThreatLocker) to client environments, including policy configuration and NAC implementation
  • EDR Deployments - Deploying and configuring Endpoint Detection & Response solutions (e.g., Huntress ITDR) across client endpoints; verifying coverage and remediating gaps
  • LAPS Implementation - Deploying Microsoft Local Administrator Password Solution (LAPS) across client environments to eliminate shared local admin credentials
  • Compliance Projects - Supporting clients through compliance frameworks including PCI DSS renewal processes and related documentation
  • Security Awareness Training Campaigns - Configuring, launching, and tracking CSAV/phishing simulation campaigns for client organizations
  • Direct Send & Mail Flow Configuration - Auditing and remediating client email relay and Direct Send configurations in Microsoft 365 environments
  • Permissions Auditing & Remediation - Reviewing and correcting Active Directory and Microsoft 365 permissions; generating permissions reports for client environments
  • Firewall & VPN Projects - Assisting with SonicWall firmware management, VPN logging changes, and related network security configurations
  • Cybersecurity QA - Conducting quality assurance reviews of security tool deployments across clients; verifying configurations meet established security baselines; identifying and documenting gaps for remediation

Technical Support - Help Desk & IT Support (~20-25% of Role)

  • Provide remote IT support, troubleshooting technical issues on workstations, servers, and networks
  • Administer, monitor, and maintain Windows Server, Windows 11, and Microsoft 365 environments
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot PC hardware, software, and network devices
  • Support and maintain virtualized environments (VMware, Microsoft Hyper-V)
  • Configure and troubleshoot LAN/WAN networking, switches, firewalls, and security protocols

Cybersecurity Monitoring & Response (~10-15% of Role)

  • Perform security baseline assessments and identify vulnerabilities in client environments
  • Monitor security alerts and threat intelligence feeds to identify potential risks
  • Assist in incident response efforts and remediation planning

Weekday Evening On-Call Support

  • Be available on-call every weekday evening (6:00 PM - 12:00 AM ET) on a rotating schedule (every other week)
  • Respond to tickets within 2 hours, ensuring timely resolution of client issues
  • Provide remote troubleshooting and technical assistance to clients
  • Document all on-call support activities and resolutions in the help desk system

Requirements

Do you have experience in Incident response?, Do you have a Associate’s degree?, * Minimum 1 years of IT experience with relevant technical training or certifications

  • Strong expertise in Windows Client & Server Operating Systems, networking technologies, and cybersecurity best practices
  • Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, Microsoft Hyper-V)
  • Familiarity with LAN/WAN networking, network protocols, switches, and SonicWall firewalls
  • Experience with or strong interest in security tools such as ThreatLocker, Huntress, Duo MFA, or similar platforms
  • Comfort managing multiple concurrent projects across different clients simultaneously
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills
  • Willingness to stay up to date with the latest IT security threats, standards, and best practices

  • Total Potential Compensation: $49,000-$74,000+ annually, plus additional earnings for billable on-call work
