Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled Mainframe Programmer to join our dynamic IT team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on enterprise-level mainframe systems, ensuring seamless operations and robust system performance.   • Maintain and enhance existing mainframe systems, ensuring high availability and performance through system troubleshooting and debugging.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including business analysts, systems engineers, and solution architects to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Perform system integration tasks involving database systems like IBM Db2, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and NoSQL databases to ensure data consistency and security.
  • Manage configuration control through version control tools such as Git and implement continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines for efficient software delivery.
  • Conduct system hardening, vulnerability assessments, and threat intelligence analysis to ensure enterprise security standards are met across all mainframe environments.
  • Support IT infrastructure components including load balancing, cloud security (AWS), VPNs, firewalls, virtualization (VMware), and network configurations like DNS, DHCP, GPO to maintain system integrity.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in mainframe programming with expertise in COBOL, JCL (Job Control Language), and other relevant languages such as C# or Python.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise solutions implementation involving service-oriented architecture (SOA), system design, and application development.
  • Hands-on experience with database management systems including IBM Db2, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, NoSQL databases; proficiency in SQL is essential.
  • Knowledge of modern IT infrastructure components such as operating systems (Windows/Linux), virtualization platforms (VMware/ESXi), cloud services (AWS/Azure), and networking protocols (DNS/DHCP).
  • Familiarity with software development life cycle (SDLC), Agile methodologies like Scrum or Kanban, DevOps practices including CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins or similar tools.
  • Ability to perform technical troubleshooting support for complex system issues involving system architecture or application errors.
  • Excellent cross-functional communication skills to liaise effectively between technical teams and business stakeholders.
  • Relevant certifications such as ITIL, AWS Certified Solutions Architect or equivalent are a plus.
