Job description
This position exists to provide enterprise-level support for the State of New Mexico’s Microsoft 365 shared tenant. It is responsible for overseeing the design, configuration, management, and continuous improvement of the tenant environment. The role ensures secure, reliable, and effective processes that support agency onboarding, adoption, and sustained use of the Microsoft 365 platform. By maintaining operational excellence and aligning with best practices, this position plays a critical role in enabling statewide collaboration, productivity, and digital transformation. How does it get done?
- Collaborate with a team to administer, configure, optimize, and secure the State of New Mexico’s Microsoft 365 shared tenant.
- Ensure agencies have appropriate Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) to operate independently within the tenant while maintaining overall governance and security.
- Manage and support core Microsoft 365 services including: Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Sentinel, Exchange Online, Intune, Microsoft Purview.
- Drive adoption of new Microsoft 365 features and capabilities across agencies, promoting best practices and maximizing platform value.
- Serve in a consulting capacity to assist agencies with onboarding, feature implementation, and troubleshooting within the Microsoft 365 environment.
- Support and maintain Cayosoft Administrator, the centralized tool used for user, group, and license management across all agencies in the tenant.
- Participate in on-call rotation with team members
Who are the customers?
All New Mexico state agencies participating in the SoNM Digital Workspace enterprise service.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), Information Technology, Engineering, or similar technical degree and three (3) years of experience in systems administration. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling seven (7) years may substitute for the required education and experience. Must possess and maintain current ID or Driver’s License. Pre-employment background investigation is required, and employment is conditional pending results. Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some travel may be required. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. This position is required to respond to New Mexico Department of Health staff, and the New Mexico Department of Health Operation Center in an event of a disaster or emergency.
