Job description

Data Scientist with a Passion for Data Engineering and AI Wanted Are you the kind of data scientist who not only loves building models, but also loves making sure they’re put into practice? For an exciting opportunity with a major player in the logistics sector, we at IBS are looking for a Data Scientist who enjoys bridging the gap between data science, data engineering, AI, and business challenges. You’ll be working in a multidisciplinary team with developers, a data engineer/scientist, a tester, a designer, and a product owner. It’s a tight-knit team with a strong “can-do” attitude, where communication is direct and where tangible results matter more than grand plans without action. What makes this assignment interesting? You will work on existing and new models, procedures, and ETL processes. You will contribute ideas on data quality, monitoring, database processes, and the further implementation of AI and data science within a complex operational environment. You will do this by taking the lead and providing guidance based on your area of expertise. We’re looking for someone who gets energized by:

  • Developing, maintaining, and improving models and algorithms
  • Automating and Optimizing Database Processes
  • Setting up monitoring for outliers, model drift, and data drift
  • Translating business questions into concrete data solutions

Requirements

In terms of the tech stack, experience with Python, Pandas, Scikit-learn, Statsmodels, Random Forests, XGBoost, Power BI, Oracle/PL-SQL, and Microsoft SQL Server, among others, is relevant. Experience with Linux, Docker, and release management is a plus. You have strong analytical skills, are proactive, open to collaboration, and enjoy bridging the gap between business and technology. You don’t just write perfect code; you also understand why a solution does or doesn’t work for the people who have to use it. The position is based in the Rotterdam area and requires working on-site several days a week.
