Job description

Fleetio is looking for a product-minded and collaborative Software Engineer to join our Growth Engineering team. Growth Engineering is focused on helping customers realize value from Fleetio as quickly as possible by building thoughtful onboarding experiences, improving product adoption, and experimenting with features that drive long-term engagement.

In this role, you’ll build features across the product that make it easier for users to discover value, adopt new workflows, and successfully manage their fleets. You’ll work closely with Product Managers, Designers, Data Operations, and fellow engineers to turn insights into product improvements and measurable customer outcomes.

  • Design and implement features that improve user onboarding, product adoption, and long-term engagement.
  • Help build experiments that validate product ideas and measure customer impact.
  • Contribute to technical discussions and collaborate on solutions that balance customer value with technical excellence.
  • Deliver well-tested, maintainable, and performant code.
  • Prototype solutions and iterate quickly based on customer feedback and product insights.
  • Participate in code reviews, share knowledge with teammates, and contribute to a collaborative engineering culture.

Requirements

Our ideal candidate enjoys solving business problems through thoughtful product development and collaborative engineering. You care about building intuitive user experiences, writing clean and maintainable code, and using data to help inform product decisions.

You are curious, detail-oriented, and eager to learn through experimentation. You enjoy working with cross-functional teammates, are comfortable receiving and giving feedback, and thrive in an environment where you can make meaningful contributions while continuing to grow as an engineer., * 3+ years of professional software engineering experience.

  • 1+ years of experience with Ruby on Rails.
  • Experience building modern web applications using React and TypeScript.
  • Experience building full-stack web applications and customer-facing features.
  • Understanding of object-oriented programming principles and relational databases such as PostgreSQL.
  • Familiarity with writing efficient database queries and working with application data.
  • Experience with unit testing frameworks.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Considered a Plus

  • Exposure to A/B testing, experimentation frameworks, or feature flagging.
  • Familiarity with product analytics or user behavior tools such as Amplitude, Mixpanel, Heap, or similar platforms.
  • Experience using customer data to inform product decisions.
  • Experience improving onboarding, activation, or engagement experiences.
  • Project experience with Tailwind CSS.
  • You know a thing or two about the fleet management industry.
