Custom Aluminum Products, a large custom aluminum extrusion manufacturer with locations in South Elgin and Genoa, IL is accepting applications for an IT Infrastructure Specialist in our Genoa, IL location. We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented IT Infrastructure Specialist to join our technology team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and optimizing our organization’s IT infrastructure, ensuring seamless computer management, network connectivity, and support across various operating systems. Your expertise will help deliver reliable IT support, troubleshoot software and hardware issues, and enhance our overall technology environment. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a fast-paced, innovative organization committed to leveraging cutting-edge technology solutions., We are looking for a versatile, proactive IT Infrastructure Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be the ā€œboots on the groundā€ technical lead for our Genoa facility, ensuring our 250+ local employees have the support they need while managing the critical networking and server infrastructure that keeps our multi-site manufacturing operations running.

You will spend approximately 40% of your time on high-level infrastructure projects-including expanding our WiFi footprint and server capacity-and 60% of your time providing essential IT support to our team members., * Infrastructure Lead: Serve as the internal point of contact for 3rd party networking consultants. You will assist in the deployment of new systems, learn the architecture, and take full ownership of maintenance once live.

  • Network Management: Support and optimize a multi-vendor environment
  • Systems Administration: Maintain and troubleshoot Windows Server environments to ensure 24/7 uptime for our manufacturing plants.
  • General IT Support: Provide Tier 1 & 2 support for ~500 total employees, resolving hardware, software, and connectivity issues with a ā€œcustomer-firstā€ mindset.
  • Site Ownership: Be the primary IT presence in Genoa, with occasional travel to our South Elgin plant to ensure cross-site hardware consistency.

Requirements

  • Experience: 3-5 years in a Generalist or Systems/Network role, preferably in a manufacturing or multi-site environment.
  • Networking Pro: Comfortable with managed switches, VLANs, and wireless heat mapping (Ubiquiti/Aruba experience is a plus).
  • Security Minded: Familiarity with firewall configuration and SD-WAN (SonicWall/Fortinet).
  • Versatility: You are just as comfortable racking a server as you are helping an employee with a Windows update or a printer issue.
  • Communication: Ability to ā€œtranslateā€ technical needs between our 3rd party experts and our internal leadership.
