Job description

We are currently looking for a specialized machine programmer for our Mazak Tube Laser. This person would be responsible for creating and implementing CNC programs for a Mazak tube laser cutting machine. Utilizing specialized CAD/CAM software, the programmer designs cutting paths for complex tube shapes, ensuring precision and efficiency in the production of metal components according to customer specifications. This role requires collaboration with engineers and production teams to optimize material usage and streamline the manufacturing process while maintaining high-quality standards.   • Interpreting Engineering Drawings: Accurately translate blueprints and 3D models into cutting programs, considering tube geometry, bend angles, and part tolerances.
  • CAD/CAM Programming: Utilize Mazak tube laser programming software such as TUBE DX to design cutting paths, nesting patterns, and pierce points for optimal material utilization.
  • Machine Setup: Configure machine parameters including laser power, cutting speed, and nozzle selection based on material type and desired cut quality.
  • Program Simulation & Verification: Use software tools to preview cutting paths on virtual models, identifying and correcting potential errors before production begins.
  • Quality Control: Monitor cutting processes to ensure consistent quality, making necessary adjustments to program parameters as needed.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve issues related to cutting errors, machine malfunctions, or program inconsistencies.
  • Production Optimization: Continuously seek ways to improve cutting efficiency, reduce material waste, and minimize cycle times.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with laser operators, engineers, and production staff to ensure seamless workflow and process improvements.
  • Other Machinery: Other programming of burn tables such as a Kinetic K5000, Voortman saw, and other various equipment.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in Mazak tube laser programming software (TUBE DX, FG-CADCAM, ARTCUT)
  • Strong understanding of 3D CAD design principles
  • Knowledge of metal fabrication processes and material properties
  • Experience with CNC programming concepts
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
  • Keen attention to detail and commitment to quality standards
  • Familiarity with shop procedures and manufacturing environments
  • Candidates with an engineering education will be given stronger consideration
