Job description

The Data Analyst applies advanced knowledge of healthcare data acquisition, analysis, and interpretation to deliver actionable insights that support clinical, operational, and strategic decision-making. This role provides leadership and operational support for quality improvement initiatives, population health efforts, grant reporting, and data system optimization. The position also serves as a backup to the Clinical Applications Coordinator and plays a key role in advancing data-driven practices across the organization., * Extract, aggregate, and analyze healthcare data from multiple sources (e.g., EHRs, claims, prior authorizations).

  • Develop ad-hoc and routine analyses, including static and dynamic reports and dashboards.
  • Translate business needs into actionable data insights and user-friendly reporting tools.
  • Support quarterly, annual, GPRA, UDS, and grant-related reporting requirements.
  • Identify trends in healthcare utilization and evaluate program effectiveness.

Quality Improvement (QI) & Clinical Program Support

  • Support planning, coordination, and documentation of QI initiatives.
  • Monitor performance metrics and patient outcomes.
  • Develop patient care gap reports and outreach lists.
  • Maintain and update the Quality Improvement Program Plan.
  • Support Quality of Care Committee and Clinical Data Quality Subcommittee (CDQS) reporting and integration.
  • Provide evidence-based recommendations aligned with national clinical guidelines.

Population Health & Data Systems (Azara DRVS)

  • Support implementation, optimization, and use of Azara DRVS.
  • Improve data accessibility, usability, and understanding among staff.
  • Integrate DRVS workflows into care delivery and QI activities.

Grant & Clinical Data Support

  • Ensure compliance and accuracy of grant-related data reporting.
  • Support clinical initiatives (e.g., chronic disease programs) with data insights and tracking.
  • Improve processes for data collection, validation, storage, and reporting efficiency.

Communication, Collaboration, Committees & Organizational Support

  • Serve as an advisor to the communication committee, providing expertise on data shared across all social media platforms. Analyze posted data, actively participate in multidisciplinary teams and committees, and represent the organization in external collaboratives (e.g., Quality Action Labs).
  • Deliver analytical support to inform decision-making and advance organizational initiatives.
  • Support coordination of communications, outreach activities, and organizational committees as required.
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to align data strategies and ensure accurate, effective reporting.

Technical & Operational Excellence

  • Utilize SQL and relational database knowledge to develop reports and analyses.
  • Automate workflows and document processes to increase efficiency.
  • Participate in the development of quality assurance (QA) processes for data accuracy.
  • Research and implement new tools and analytical approaches.
  • Manage tasks, timelines, and deliverables effectively.

Professional Development & Team Contribution

  • Engage in continuous learning related to analytics, healthcare data, and QI methodologies.
  • Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot challenges and share knowledge.
  • Participate in cross-training and contribute to team development., Works closely with clinical, administrative, and leadership teams to support reporting, quality initiatives, and operational improvements.

External: Communicates with external partners, evaluators, and collaborative organizations, presenting data findings and coordinating reporting requirements.

Independence of Action

Exercises a high level of independent judgment in analyzing data, developing reports, and recommending improvements. Works with limited supervision while aligning tasks with organizational priorities.

Results of Actions

Errors may negatively impact patient care, clinical outcomes, financial reporting, grant compliance, and organizational reputation. Accuracy and timeliness are critical.

Job Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in health administration, Applied Statistics, or related field required
  • Master’s degree preferred

Experience:

  • 2-5 years of healthcare analytics experience (physician group, IPA, or similar environment)
  • Experience working with claims and clinical datasets
  • Extensive SQL query and data extraction experience
  • Report development experience (e.g., eBO preferred)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of relational database theory and data structures
  • Understanding of medical terminology and coding (preferred)
  • Experience with GPRA, UDS, and healthcare reporting standards
  • Strong understanding of population health and performance measurement
  • Ability to synthesize complex data into actionable insights
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, Independently manages specialized analytical work, prioritizes tasks, and contributes to organizational and departmental objectives with minimal supervision., * Standard business hours with flexibility based on reporting deadlines and organizational needs

  • Subject to background check and reference verification., * SQL: 1 year (Preferred)
