Job description

The Vehicle Foundation Team provides the fundamental software platform on which all vehicle applications run. The team owns core capabilities such as Remote Access, Metrics & Logging, Provisioning, and Over-the-Air (OTA) updates, ensuring that the fleet can be operated, monitored, and updated reliably at scale.

In addition, the team takes end-to-end responsibility for cybersecurity topics, tooling, and the technical alignment with base software suppliers.

What you will do

  • Develop and maintain in-vehicle software running on our ECU
  • Extend and improve existing monitoring systems used to track the state of our fleet
  • Interface with VW Group, vendors, and other partners to align on software interfaces, tooling, and hardware
  • Support the team with expert knowledge and guidance in embedded engineering, mentor colleagues in your field of expertise and provide direction if needed
  • Shape and contribute to our development processes regarding automotive standards
  • Be part of the full development life cycle, from design to implementation, quality assurance, and maintenance

Requirements

  • A university degree in Engineering or similar
  • Profound knowledge of C++ (11/14 or later), Python, Bash and communication protocols like MQTT and SOME/IP
  • Familiarity with networking concepts, including TCP/IP, IPv6, VLAN configuration, and SOCKS proxy
  • Experience with SiL and HiL testing integrated into CI/CD
  • Proven track record in industries with high reliability and quality demands (automotive, medical, aerospace, or similar), specifically considering ASPICE, ISO26262, homologation
  • You can work proactively and independently in an agile cross-functional team, lead initiatives, align with external stakeholders, and be a team player
