Job description

You will support the successful execution of Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) construction and installation projects that are critical to the reliability and performance of highvoltage power systems across North America. As the Site Manager, you are based at customer sites during active construction phases, serving as the primary onsite representative for GIS service projects. Your work centers on coordinating field teams, subcontractors, materials, and site activities to ensure GIS equipment is installed, assembled, and commissioned in alignment with project requirements, safety standards, and documented specifications. Working closely with Project Managers and Senior Site Managers, you help translate technical plans and schedules into safe, effective site execution. This role demands visible presence on site, sound judgment in daytoday field conditions, and consistent communication across technical, safety, quality, and logistics topics. Your contribution helps ensure GIS installations are completed safely, accurately, and in a manner that supports longterm system integrity and customer confidence in highvoltage infrastructure.

How You’ll Make an Impact

Act as the primary onsite representative for GIS construction and installation activities, coordinating with customers, subcontractors, suppliers, inspectors, and local stakeholders

Plan, organize, and manage GIS construction activities to support schedule, quality, productivity, and project targets

Promote and maintain environmental, health, and safety practices aligned with company, customer, and regulatory requirements for highvoltage work

Coordinate field teams and subcontractors to ensure GIS installation work aligns with drawings, specifications, contracts, and site expectations

Oversee receipt, handling, storage, and documentation of GIS equipment, materials, and components delivered to site

Monitor progress, risks, and site conditions related to GIS installation, and communicate status and issues to the project team

Maintain accurate construction documentation, reports, schedules, and logs associated with GIS site activities

Address constructability questions, drawing issues, and unexpected field conditions through collaboration and sound, timely judgment

Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Requirements

Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.

Minimum of 5 years of experience managing construction or modification projects, with emphasis in construction management

Experience supporting substation or highvoltage power transmission environments

Knowledge of safety practices for working in energized, highvoltage substations

Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred; a combination of education and directly applicable experience will be considered

Ability to read and interpret contracts, technical specifications, and construction drawings

Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and other construction or project information tools
