Job description

Work closely with team members and end-users to design and develop graphical user interfaces (GUIs)for internal tools.

  • Create, implement, and enhance software using C++, Rational Team Concert, GitLab, and other DevOps tools.

  • Support and actively participate in test events, which may necessitate occasional travel to other locations.

Requirements

Amentum is seeking talented and motivated Software Engineers to join our US Navy Advanced Technology Development Team. In this role, you will design, optimize, and develop software solutions aimed at maximizing performance and efficiency in an R&D-focused environment. This position is primarily based in Fredericksburg and Dahlgren, VA, with opportunities for occasional telecommuting and travel., Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, or Physics, with relevant hands-on experience.

  • Active Secret-level US Government Security Clearance (US citizenship is required to maintain clearance).

  • Proficiency across all phases of the software development lifecycle, including requirements definition, design, coding, benchmarking, testing, debugging, and documentation.

  • Proven ability to plan, perform, and lead software design, coding, and testing efforts.

  • Practical experience working in Agile software development environments using Agile methodologies.

  • Familiarity with Atlassian products, such as Jira for issue tracking and Confluence for decision tracking.

  • Proficient in using version control tools such as Git or Bitbucket.

  • Demonstrated experience in C++, C#, and Java (preferred).

  • Candidates with hands-on expertise in object-oriented programming are strongly encouraged to apply.

  • Ability to commute regularly to Fredericksburg and Dahlgren, VA, located approximately 1 hour south of Washington, D.C.

  • Possession of a valid Real ID driver’s license for site access and reliable personal transportation (rideshare options like Uber/Lyft are not permitted).
