Job description

A fast-growing, pre-Series A AI SaaS company focused on productivity, automation, and content creation tools for the DACH region is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join their Berlin-based team. You’ll play a key role in scaling a GDPR-compliant AI platform used by enterprises and hundreds of thousands of individual users across Germany, Austria, and Switzerland., * Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs powering an AI-driven productivity and content creation platform

Architect and evolve microservices infrastructure to support growing user demand
Implement and uphold privacy-by-design principles, ensuring full GDPR/DSGVO compliance across all systems
Collaborate closely with product, frontend, and ML teams to ship high-quality features
Contribute to technical decision-making and help define backend engineering best practices
Support the integration and scaling of AI-powered features including automation workflows, content generation, and knowledge management tools

Requirements

Do you have experience in SaaS?, Do you have a Master’s degree?, Required:

5+ years of backend engineering experience at a senior level
Proven track record designing and maintaining scalable backend services and RESTful APIs
Strong experience with microservices architecture
Proficiency in at least one major backend language such as Python, Node.js, Go, or Java
Hands-on experience with GDPR/data privacy compliance and privacy-by-design in production systems
Experience building or scaling AI-powered productivity, automation, or content creation platforms
Legal right to work in Germany - visa sponsorship is not available
Willingness to work onsite in Berlin, Germany

Nice to Have:

Familiarity with LLM integrations and AI workflow orchestration
Experience working in the DACH market or with German data protection regulations
Background at a high-growth SaaS or AI startup
