Job description
You could be progressing your career in a hands-on Lead Software Developer at a well-funded Fintech scale-up that is establishing a technical centre of excellence in the North East.
As a Lead Software Developer you’ll design and implement the logic behind core applications, build APIs and microservices that handle data processing, business rules and third-party integrations and oversee the configuration and upkeep of secure, reliable server environments.
You’ll work closely with internal teams and customers to gather detailed requirements through meetings and workshops and help shape the product vision and roadmap by offering technical insight and feasibility guidance, remaining hands-on with architecture and design.
You will be a technical leader, instilling best practices, conducting code reviews, mentoring and collaboratively problem solving to help your team remove any blockers and deliver high quality software.
Requirements
Do you have expertise with backend software development within finance / trading environments, combined with strong leadership skills?, * You have achieved a minimum 2.1 BSc in Computer Science or similar technical discipline from a top tier / Russel Group university, backed by A’s at A-level
- You have experience in a similar role in a finance / trading / hedge fund environment
- You have strong technical / team leadership skills, happy conducting 1-2-1s, providing coaching and mentoring as well as project leadership
- You have expertise with modern C# .Net Core, Python skills would also be of benefit (will also consider other OO languages e.g. C++, Java)
- You have a strong knowledge of modern software engineering best practices and have experience across the full software development lifecycle
- You’re a technologist who enjoys collaborating and problem solving, working on complex, distributed systems
- You have a thorough understanding of Computer Science fundamentals such as OOP, Data Structures, Design Patterns, Algorithms

About the company
You’ll join colleagues in brand new Central Newcastle offices on a full-time basis (Monday to Friday), working hours 0900-1800 with some flexibility.
