Job description

  • Provides computer technical and systems support that includes hardware, networks, data center, storage, telephony, software, databases, email, content management, data archiving, backup, directory services, virtualization services, networking, security, file and print services, and documentation.
  • Performs systems analysis duties in the design, development, and implementation of information systems and supporting computer hardware and software.
  • Services and monitors the health of agency information systems; plans and coordinates maintenance and third-party support.
  • Serves as one of the first points of contact amongst the IT Team to support users via the service desk.
  • Researches, tests, and recommends hardware and software solutions ensuring compliance with Prosper Portland standards and the direction of the agency’s IT infrastructure.
  • Selects, implements, and integrates new technology; migrates and upgrades existing platforms to new systems and manages software licensing efforts.
  • Ensures service availability; serves as the first point of contract to fix service interruptions.
  • Ensures a secure computing environment, including anti-virus, spyware/malware protection, and secure wireless networking for end-users.
  • Documents and diagrams computer systems and procedures; writes and updates manuals and end-user instructions.
  • Provides instruction and training to staff on the installation and application of software and hardware.
  • Leads or assists with IT-managed infrastructure projects.
  • Engineers and supports wireless network infrastructure including hardware, client devices, authentication, and encryption.
  • Communicates and coordinates with contractors, vendors, and City of Portland IT staff; supports the procurement of remote and onsite third-party support.
  • Assists the agency with special projects, committees, and other relevant duties as assigned.

Requirements

Five years of experience in providing direct end-user desktop support or systems analysis. A minimum of 3 years of experience in supporting and managing similar technologies utilized by the customer.
