Job description

Develop and support critical applications and related application integrations, such as degree audit, transfer articulation, course offering, course scheduling, program enrollment, course registration, transcripts, grading, and graduation. Duties include:

  • Analyze information to provide ongoing software maintenance and support for Boston College application modules and software.
  • Provide ongoing maintenance and support for the self-service aspects of the degree audit application.
  • Modify, update, and enhance application integrations software systems.
  • Update and enhance computer application modules as needed.
  • Perform software upgrades and patches as required with degree audit vendor.
  • Provide software support for the overall degree audit system.
  • Create technical specification documentation from business requirements.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field followed by 5 years of experience developing and maintaining software applications. Experience must include the following, which may have been gained concurrently:

  • 5 years of experience performing data analysis, design, and implementation to define and assess business needs and programming requirements in an Agile development environment.
  • 5 years of experience developing and maintaining web-based applications using AngularJS, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
  • 5 years of experience writing and optimizing SQL Queries for application development, and using relational databases (Oracle/SQL Server) including data modeling and basic performance tuning.
  • 5 years of experience building and consuming Web Services (REST/SOAP) and working with data formats including JSON/XML.
  • 3 years of experience in object-oriented programming using Java including developing, debugging, and deploying enterprise-level applications.
  • 3 years of experience using Git for version control, writing unit test cases, and configuring application logging for monitoring and troubleshooting.
  • 2 years of experience integrating third-party or vendor-provided software solutions into existing applications, including troubleshooting and coordinating with external vendors.
  • 2 years of experience using Spring Framework to develop scalable and enterprise-level web applications.
