Job description

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Digital SME Technology team. This role combines hands-on full-stack engineering with technical leadership, mentorship, and delivery ownership across modern digital platforms. You will design, develop, and enhance scalable cloud-native solutions that support Digital SME business capabilities while partnering closely with Product, Architecture, Quality Engineering, and business stakeholders.

As a senior member of the engineering team, you will influence technical design decisions, contribute to architectural direction, mentor engineers, and help drive engineering excellence across the organization. The ideal candidate brings strong expertise in full-stack development, APIs, integrations, and cloud technologies, thrives in a collaborative Agile environment, and is passionate about delivering high-quality software while helping engineers grow and succeed.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Technical Leadership & Delivery

  • Design, develop, and maintain modern full-stack applications across frontend, backend, API, integration, and database layers.

  • Drive technical design discussions and contribute to architecture decisions that promote scalability, reliability, security, and maintainability.

  • Design and develop RESTful APIs, event-driven services, and integrations supporting internal and external business capabilities.

  • Translate business requirements into high-quality technical solutions and implementation plans.

  • Take ownership of complex features and initiatives from concept through production deployment and ongoing support.

  • Contribute to system modernization efforts, technical roadmaps, and continuous platform improvements.

  • Partner with architects and engineering leaders to ensure alignment with enterprise standards and long-term technology strategy.
  • Lead by example through strong engineering practices and collaboration.

Engineering Excellence & Quality

  • Write clean, maintainable, secure, and well-tested code following established engineering standards and best practices.

  • Champion code quality through peer reviews, automated testing, and continuous integration and deployment practices.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex application, performance, scalability, and production issues.

  • Participate in root-cause analysis and implement sustainable solutions.

  • Contribute to observability, monitoring, logging, and performance optimization initiatives.

  • Ensure solutions meet security, compliance, and operational standards.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Partner closely with Product Owners, Business Analysts, Architects, QA Engineers, and stakeholders.

  • Participate in backlog refinement, sprint planning, estimation, technical design sessions, demonstrations, and retrospectives.

  • Communicate complex technical concepts effectively to technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Build strong relationships across business and technology teams.

Continuous Improvement & Innovation

  • Identify opportunities to improve code quality, system architecture, development processes, and team productivity.

  • Evaluate and recommend modern technologies, frameworks, and engineering practices.

  • Promote a culture of ownership, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Tools & Environment

  • Work within a cloud-native, distributed application environment utilizing modern engineering tools and platforms.

  • Leverage CI/CD pipelines, monitoring tools, containerized deployments, and Azure cloud services.

  • Support production readiness activities, deployment automation, and operational monitoring.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline preferred.

  • 5-7 years of progressive software development experience with demonstrated success delivering enterprise-grade applications.
  • Experience with AI-assisted coding tools like GitHub Copilot.
  • Strong proficiency in C# or similar object-oriented programming languages, applying SOLID principles and writing clean, maintainable code.
  • Solid front-end development experience using Angular or similar frameworks, building responsive and accessible user interfaces.
  • Working knowledge of relational databases, NoSQL databases, and caching systems including SQL Server, Cosmos DB, and Redis with understanding of schema design and query optimization.

  • Experience designing, developing, and supporting scalable RESTful APIs, micro or domain-bounded services, and service-oriented architectures.

  • Experience building and supporting cloud-native applications and distributed systems.

  • Hands-on experience with Azure cloud services and modern cloud architecture patterns.

  • Experience with containerization technologies and modern deployment methodologies.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Experience with Duck Creek Policy Administration System is a plus.

  • Experience leading technical initiatives or serving as a technical lead on significant projects.

  • Ability to influence cross-functional teams and drive consensus on technical decisions.

  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building capabilities.

  • Growth mindset with a passion for learning new technologies and helping others succeed.

Benefits & conditions

  • A competitive package and exciting growth opportunities for career-oriented teammates.
  • A dynamic, action oriented, and thoughtful environment centered on always doing the right thing for our customers, teammates, and our other stakeholders.
