Job description
Greenbrier Government Solutions is hiring two IT Service Desk Specialists to provide on-site desktop and endpoint support for a federal government client in Washington, DC. You will be the person people count on to keep their Windows and Mac systems running, sort out the harder technical problems, and help staff stay productive and secure. This position is contingent on contract award.
Please note: this role is on-site in Washington, DC, and requires you to pass a federal background check, including fingerprinting, before you can start.
What you will do

- Install, configure, and troubleshoot hardware, software, and peripherals across Windows and macOS, including patches and firmware.
- Administer Microsoft Entra ID and Active Directory (accounts, group policy, identity lifecycle) and manage iOS and Android devices through an MDM.
- Diagnose and resolve the tougher issues, such as MFA failures, identity problems, network connectivity, and endpoint errors, and track them down to the root cause.
- Support and mentor Tier I technicians, write and maintain SOPs, and use JAMF and Intune to automate endpoint management.
- Take part in patch and vulnerability remediation (using Nessus to prioritize), imaging and scripting, and incident response during outages.
- Keep tickets updated to service standards, maintain accurate asset records, and securely wipe and destroy drives with proper documentation.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience supporting both macOS and Windows in an enterprise environment, including imaging, deployment, and configuration management.
- Experience with endpoint management tools such as Ivanti, KACE, Microsoft Intune, and JAMF.
- Working knowledge of identity and access management, including Microsoft Entra ID, Active Directory, multi-factor authentication, and role-based access.
- Comfort troubleshooting from logs (Windows Event Viewer, macOS Console) and monitoring tools.
- Familiarity with patch management and vulnerability remediation, including working from Nessus scan results.
- A solid understanding of Zero Trust security principles.
- Experience with AWS or hybrid cloud environments is a plus.
- Strong customer service, communication, and documentation skills, and the patience to mentor junior technicians.
- Must be a U.S. citizen, or a lawful permanent resident or H-1B holder eligible to work, and able to pass an FBI background check and fingerprinting.
