Job description

The Cloud Engineer is a key leadership role responsible for the reliability, scalability, security, and operational excellence of the company’s cloud infrastructure and engineering platforms.

This position leads the DevOps organization and works in close partnership with the Head of Technology and Chief Security Officer to deliver stable, secure, compliant, and high-performing systems that empower engineering teams to ship faster with confidence. The role owns end-to-end cloud infrastructure operations, modern CI/CD practices, observability, and the operational execution of SOC 2 (and other relevant) compliance controls.

In addition, the Cloud Engineer champions the responsible integration of AI-enabled engineering practices, governing tools and workflows that measurably improve developer productivity, code quality, documentation, and delivery velocity.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical leader who combines deep infrastructure and security expertise with strong people leadership and a passion for enabling high-performing engineering teams.

What You Will Be Doing

  1. DevOps Leadership & Cloud Infrastructure Operations

Lead and mature the DevOps function that serves as the operational backbone for all engineering teams.

Key Deliverables:

  • Own and evolve CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes that enable reliable, low-risk, frequent releases.
  • Manage cloud infrastructure (development, UAT/staging, production) with a focus on cost-efficiency, scalability, and high availability.
  • Implement and maintain enterprise-grade monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability solutions.
  • Define and enforce infrastructure-as-code, configuration, and environment management standards.
  • Lead infrastructure scalability planning and capacity management to support business and platform growth.
  • Drive continuous improvement of build, release, and operational workflows in collaboration with engineering teams.
  1. Security Operations & Compliance

Partner closely with the Security Officer to embed security and compliance into every layer of engineering and infrastructure.

Key Deliverables:

  • Operational ownership and execution of SOC 2 controls (infrastructure, change management, access control, monitoring, etc.).
  • Timely collection and organization of audit evidence and documentation.
  • Oversight of vulnerability management programs, including DAST, SAST, SCA, and remediation workflows.
  • Enforcement of secure infrastructure and deployment practices (IaC scanning, secrets management, least-privilege access, etc.).
  • Management of cloud and infrastructure access controls and permissions.
  • Coordination of security incident response and vulnerability remediation efforts.
  1. Production Reliability & Incident Management

Ensure exceptional uptime, performance, and resilience across all environments.

Key Deliverables:

  • Design and maintain robust observability practices that provide actionable visibility into system health and user experience.
  • Lead or coordinate incident response for infrastructure and platform-related incidents.
  • Drive rigorous post-incident root cause analysis and implement lasting preventive improvements (blameless culture).
  • Continuously improve system performance, reliability, and operational maturity.
  1. Engineering Enablement & Developer Experience

Provide the platforms, tools, and standards that allow engineers to focus on building great products.

Key Deliverables:

  • Manage and evolve internal developer platforms, tooling, and self-service capabilities.
  • Drive improvements in build pipelines, automated testing, and deployment workflows.
  • Standardize and simplify development environments and operational practices.
  • Measure and improve key developer productivity and satisfaction metrics.
  1. AI-Enabled Engineering Practices

Lead the responsible adoption of AI tools to accelerate engineering velocity and quality.

Key Deliverables:

  • Establish clear policies, guardrails, and best practices for secure and ethical use of AI-assisted coding, testing, and documentation tools.
  • Integrate AI capabilities into existing workflows for code generation, test generation, code review assistance, and documentation automation.
  • Automate creation and maintenance of technical documentation (architecture, system diagrams, runbooks, etc.).
  • Track and report on measurable gains in productivity, quality, and documentation coverage.
  1. Technical Collaboration & Institutional Knowledge

Serve as a trusted technical advisor and institutional memory for the engineering organization.

Key Deliverables:

  • Provide operational expertise and risk-informed input to the Head of Technology on major initiatives, platform architecture, and infrastructure strategy.
  • Contribute to platform evolution, scalability planning, and technology roadmap decisions.
  • Support and modernize (where appropriate) legacy systems still in active use.
  • Act as an escalation point and knowledge resource for complex troubleshooting and cross-team initiatives

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, Cloud Infrastructure, or Security Operations, with 3+ years in a leadership role.
  • Strong hands-on expertise with major cloud platforms (GCP preferred), Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, etc.), and modern CI/CD tooling.
  • Demonstrated success operationalizing SOC 2 (or similar) compliance programs.
  • Experience integrating and governing AI developer tools is highly valued.
  • Strong track record of building high-performing teams and improving developer experience and platform reliability.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills; able to influence across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)., * Leadership: 3 years (Required)
