Job description
Dobbs Defense Solutions is seeking an experienced Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) to support a federal customer in Washington, DC. The ISSE will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining secure enterprise information systems while ensuring compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) and federal cybersecurity requirements. This role partners closely with system administrators, network engineers, Information System Security Officers (ISSOs), and application teams to strengthen cybersecurity posture, support continuous monitoring, and protect mission-critical systems., * Design, implement, and maintain enterprise security architectures aligned with NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF), DoD STIGs, CIS Benchmarks, and organizational cybersecurity policies.
- Perform security engineering throughout the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including security requirements analysis, system design reviews, security testing, accreditation support, and security impact assessments.
- Manage vulnerability assessment and remediation efforts using tools such as Tenable Nessus, ACAS, Qualys, Trellix ePO, and Splunk Enterprise while supporting incident response and continuous monitoring activities.
- Develop automation solutions using PowerShell, Python, Bash, and Ansible to improve compliance reporting, vulnerability remediation, security monitoring, and account auditing.
- Engineer and maintain secure Windows and Linux environments, cloud infrastructure, virtualization platforms, containerized applications, and CyberArk Privileged Access Management (EPV, PVWA, CPM, and PSM).
- Produce technical security documentation, risk assessments, architecture diagrams, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and executive-level briefings while mentoring junior Information Systems Security Engineers.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with five (5) years of relevant experience; Master’s degree with three (3) years of relevant experience; or nine (9) years of equivalent experience in lieu of a degree.
- Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility and current DoD 8570.1-M IAT Level III certification (SecurityX/CASP+, CISSP, CISA, GCIH, or equivalent).
- Demonstrated experience with NIST RMF, FedRAMP, DoD STIGs, ATO package development, cybersecurity compliance, networking, cloud security (AWS/Azure), Kubernetes, and DevSecOps.
- Hands-on experience administering Tenable Nessus, CyberArk, Trellix, Splunk Enterprise, VMware vSphere, GitLab, Microsoft Windows Server, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, and Ubuntu Linux.
- Experience leading technical projects, mentoring junior cybersecurity professionals, developing automation through PowerShell, Python, Bash, and Ansible, and presenting technical briefings to senior leadership.
