Job description

As a team lead and senior C++ software engineer at Thirona you will lead, and be part of, the team that develops and maintains the software framework and applications that execute the algorithms developed by our deep learning team. Applications include back-end routines for pre- and postprocessing for our image analysis models and executables to create visual reports for our clients.

In this role you will, together with the product manager, determine the planning for the team and communicate and execute this planning. You should be able to quickly adapt the planning in a fast-changing environment. You will work closely with the other software teams and the deep learning team to determine the best solutions and ensure flawless integration of the created software. You will guide and motivate the other software engineers in performing their job.

Most of our software is written in modern C++. You’ll also occasionally write supporting scripts - experience with Python, CMake, Docker, and/or Jenkins is a strong plus.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and grow a team of software engineers, guiding their day-to-day work and long-term development
  • Design and develop new software features, and maintain, optimize, and validate existing software
  • Own the smooth handover of software components to other teams within Thirona
  • Define and drive the planning for software releases - building solid estimates and staying closely aligned with Product Management, Software Engineering, and Quality Assurance
  • Involve and motivate team members to take ownership of how they organize and deliver their work
  • Evaluate and give feedback on the performance and growth of your team
  • Scout and evaluate new technologies worth adopting
  • Champion continuous improvement in the quality, security, and performance of Thirona’s products and systems

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
  • 5+ years of professional experience as a software engineer
  • Strong hands-on experience with C++
  • Experience leading a software team or cross-functional projects through the full development lifecycle - from planning to deployment
  • Solid working knowledge of Agile methodologies
  • A degree, and a plus: familiarity with Python, CMake, Docker, and/or Jenkins
  • A plus: experience developing software under EU-MDR and/or FDA medical device regulations

Who You Are

  • Accountable, with the confidence to challenge the status quo when something can be done better
  • Inspiring personality; ability to enthuse team members to deliver their best work
  • Flexible and energized by a fast-paced, fast-changing environment
  • A proactive, decisive communicator who asks the right questions and provides clarity
  • Pragmatic and user-focused, both towards internal and external users
  • Organized, collaborative, and always looking to grow your own skills
