Job description

The Senior Nuclear Engineer for Applications & Support will join our existing team to fill a critical role related to our core simulator (S3R) and linked physics (CONCORS) analysis applications. These tools require application of reactor physics, reactor thermal-hydraulics, and general software development skills while working in a team of experienced and multidisciplinary engineers and developers. This role will work directly with team members currently leading the development and deployment of these tools and will provide long-term capability and vision as we grow these products for new reactor designs extended application in existing reactors. The individual in this role will also have opportunities to support other parts of the broader team with development of other software products, performing related engineering services, supporting software product usage, etc., The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Continue development of existing Studsvik software products to meet existing and new customer needs.
  • Effectively follow the software development process, including quality assurance processes as may be applicable.
  • Support customers in training and user support associated with Studsvik software products.
  • Perform engineering analyses related to reactor operations.
  • Develop engineering methodologies that improve transient prediction accuracy and operational decision support.
  • Review and interpret plant operating data to identify performance trends and recommend corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with reactor operations, systems engineering, instrumentation and controls (I&C), licensing, operations training, and other client teams.
  • Collaborate with partnering external organizations relating to reactor modeling and simulation.
  • Prepare technical reports, engineering calculations, design documentation, and regulatory submittals.
  • Provide technical leadership on complex engineering projects.
  • Support outage planning and provide engineering support during plant startup and operational testing.
  • Participate in root cause analyses and corrective action programs related to reactor performance and transient events.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or PhD. in Nuclear Engineering, Physics or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in application support or enterprise nuclear software management.
  • Experience with S3R Software or other core response simulation.
  • Experience supporting enterprise applications in engineering, energy, or technical environments.
  • Strong knowledge of reactor physics, thermal hydraulics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and nuclear safety analysis.
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing reactor transients and dynamic plant behavior.
  • Experience in Core reload licensing and NRC regulations.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience with CONCORS software or other link reactor physics applications is preferred.
  • Familiarity with both Windows and Linux operating environments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite is required., * Master’s (Required)
