Job description

A leading biometric and identity solutions organization is seeking an Automation Engineer / QA Engineer to join its biometric solutions team supporting state-level identity verification and enrollment platforms.

This position focuses on ensuring the quality, reliability and stability of biometric enrollment systems that integrate hardware devices, software applications, cloud-based workflows and payment processing components.

The ideal candidate brings a balanced background in both manual testing and test automation, with 50% of their responsibilities focused on manual QA and 50% focused on automation engineering. The right individual enjoys investigating system behavior, simulating real-world scenarios, creating automated test data and troubleshooting issues across hardware, software, and network environments.

This role is ideal for a QA professional with 2.5-3 years of experience who enjoys digging into problems, understanding root causes and partnering closely with developers to ensure high-quality releases.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Execute manual and automated testing for biometric enrollment, identity verification, and payment device workflows.

  • Create and maintain automated test scripts, simulators, dummy data, and test scenarios.

  • Validate hardware/software integrations and troubleshoot issues across software, hardware, network, and configuration layers.

  • Perform functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end testing while documenting test results and defects.

  • Collaborate with Developers, Product Owners, and Integration Engineers using Jira, Xray, and Agile methodologies.

  • Support multiple state-level implementations and drive improvements in test efficiency, automation coverage, and overall product quality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field

  • 2.5-3 years of QA, Software Testing, Automation Engineering, or SDET experience

  • Experience with both manual and automated testing

  • Strong understanding of software testing methodologies and defect lifecycle management

  • Experience creating test data, dummy data, mocks, simulators, or testing frameworks

  • Playwright

  • Experience logging and tracking defects using Jira

  • Experience with Xray test management

  • Ability to investigate and troubleshoot system failures

  • Experience working with APIs, web applications, and integrated systems * Experience testing biometric solutions - Experience working with fingerprint scanners, printers, payment devices, kiosks, or other hardware-integrated systems

  • Experience creating hardware simulators or virtual test environments

  • Understanding of network troubleshooting and connectivity issues

  • Experience distinguishing between hardware, software, configuration, and network-related failures

  • Experience with cloud environments (AWS preferred)

  • Knowledge of API testing tools - Experience with automated regression frameworks

  • Exposure to government, identity management, payment processing, or highly regulated environments

  • SQL or database testing experience
