Job description

Join Thermo Fisher Scientific as a Associate Application Administrator I and contribute to global health outcomes through our clinical research services. In this role,Provides implementation, operational and maintenance support for enterprise software applications.

Fields and triages application-specific support issues. Executes change requests and qualifications. Maintains system documentation. Liaises with and assists senior staff and other internal groups for issue escalation.

Works on assignments that are semi-routine in nature but recognizes the need for occasional deviation from accepted practice. Contacts are typically with individuals within own department and occasionally with contacts outside own organization. Contacts involve obtaining or providing information or data requiring some explanation or interpretation.

High / Secondary school diploma or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualification Technical positions may require a certificate Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to at least 0- 2 years) or equivalent combination of education, training, & experience. Years of experience refers to typical years of related experience needed to gain the required knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the job. Years of experience are not to be used as the only determining factor in establishing the job class or making employment selection decisions. REQUIREMENTS:

  • 0- 2 years of experience in systems administration or equivalent combination of education and training
  • Preferred Fields of Study: Computer Science or related field
  • Technical certification may be required
  • Proficiency with server administration and architecture (Windows Server, Linux)
  • Knowledge of relational database concepts
  • Experience with desktop operating systems and productivity applications (MS Office, MS Project, MS Visio)
  • Strong problem-solving abilities to diagnose and resolve complex application issues
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate solution implementation across multiple groups
  • Experience with laboratory information systems preferred
  • Initiative to drive issue resolution to completion
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new technical skills quickly
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
  • May require occasional travel
  • Must be able to work in office/laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological materials
  • Physical requirements include ability to lift up to 25 pounds and work in various positions as needed
