Job description
This position supports the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) SSD program. The Karsun team is responsible for the development, maintenance, and enhancement (DM&E) and operation of multiple FAA Systems. All employees must be able to pass a Federal Suitability Check for a position of public trust. The FAA SSD program supports the operations of multiple business applications, as well as development of new applications across different technologies.
The Karsun software development team is responsible for the software design and implementation of web applications supporting multiple Business Lines within the FAA. Successful candidates are modern web development specialists experienced in translating business requirements into software applications. In addition to strong software development skills, ideal candidates have demonstrated experience in working on an Agile Scrum team.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Designing, developing, troubleshooting and debugging software within a project scope ensuring that work product meets end user acceptance criteria.
- Managing self-directed assignments to resolve software defects or implement features to meet schedule commitments with a high-level of quality under the supervision of a Solution Architect.
- Estimates and scopes development tasks, and makes recommendations for innovations and improvements relating to software component designs, including reviewing the work of team members completing elements of designs.
- Develops and executes Accepted Test Driven Development (ATDD) approach to ensure software quality.
- Acquires knowledge of industry and company standards, tools and technology with a focus on pragmatic application to business-focused software solutions through initiative and self-study.
Requirements
- 3-5 years of work experience developing in Java and J2EE (full stack)
- Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Information systems, business systems, management information systems, IT Management, OR other IT degree with a minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience (engineering, math, and/or science degrees are acceptable substitute degrees)
- Strong programming skills with Java, J2EE, Spring Framework, Hibernate, Spring Security, JSON, JavaScript, Angular, HTML, and CSS
- Extensive working experience of developing RESTFul WebServices using the Open source frameworks, i.e., Node.js, Spring Framework (Spring Boot, Spring Cloud)
- Extensive working experience in Maven development tool, and Jenkins
- Extensive working experience in XML and JSON technologies
- Extensive working experience in writing queries with relational databases such as Oracle, basic data modeling, MySQL (or similar)
- Working experience in Agile methodologies
- The ability to successfully obtain and maintain a U.S. Suitability/Public Trust Background Clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with continuous integration tools and DevOps automation
- Working experience in Automated Test Driven Development (ATDD) tools
- Experience in using AWS
- Sun Certified Java Professional, Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. We may consider candidates currently in H-1B status who are eligible for transfer.
Benefits & conditions
The proposed salary range for this role is $80,000 to $90,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. Karsun considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
