Job description

Autoware is seeking a Senior MES Software Engineer to join our North American team supporting global Manufacturing Execution System (MES) projects for leading pharmaceutical and manufacturing customers.

In this role, you will work within an international project environment, collaborating with teams across North America, Europe, and other global regions to design, configure, implement, and support enterprise MES solutions. The primary focus of this position is the development and deployment of AVEVA Work Tasks applications as part of a global MES template for a major pharmaceutical customer.

This is a fully remote position based in North America with occasional travel to customer sites as project needs require.

In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Develop and configure MES applications utilizing AVEVA Work Tasks
  • Participate in technical design sessions and architecture discussions with global project teams
  • Collaborate with regional and international teams to deliver standardized MES solutions
  • Install and configure AVEVA software applications
  • Develop Forms, Workflows, SQL scripts, and system functionality within AVEVA Work Tasks
  • Prepare and promote application packages and Work Tasks files through development environments
  • Configure Work Tasks security and IIS settings
  • Support commissioning, troubleshooting, testing, and system integration activities remotely and occasionally on-site
  • Participate in project status meetings while communicating technical progress, risks, and project updates
  • Ensure solutions follow global standards, scalability, and best practices
  • Provide technical expertise throughout the complete automation project lifecycle, from design through deployment and support

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Automation, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years of experience implementing Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) within manufacturing environments
  • Recent hands-on experience with AVEVA Work Tasks (required)
  • Strong understanding of AVEVA System Platform architecture and functionality
  • Experience supporting automation projects through design, implementation, commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting
  • Experience developing Workflows, Forms, SQL scripts, and configuring AVEVA Work Tasks
  • Experience installing and configuring AVEVA software applications
  • Solid programming knowledge of SQL, JavaScript, and Python
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows environments and IIS configuration
  • Experience designing high-level software architectures and system integrations
  • Experience coordinating technical resources and collaborating with cross-functional project teams
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work independently within a global, distributed team environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • English proficiency (minimum B2 level)
  • Ability to travel approximately 20% as project needs require, * Experience supporting Pharmaceutical, Food & Beverage, Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG), or other regulated manufacturing industries
  • Previous experience working for a System Integrator or industrial automation solutions provider
  • Experience integrating MES systems with ERP platforms and manufacturing operations
  • Experience supporting multinational customer environments
