Power BI Developer

Successful outcomes start and finish with eNGINE., eNGINE is looking for a Power BI Developer to lead the rebuild and migration of an existing reporting environment from Snowflake into Power BI. This work is tied to a recently acquired business unit whose reporting currently lives in a separate environment - your job is to bring that reporting into the primary environment cleanly, without losing metric accuracy or breaking what the business already relies on.

This isn’t a “recreate the same dashboards and call it done” project. You’ll need to actually understand how the underlying data is structured, how the metrics are calculated, and how to preserve that logic (or improve it) as it moves into a new semantic model. Report migrations tend to go sideways when someone treats them as a copy-paste exercise instead of a real data modeling effort - we’re looking for someone who won’t make that mistake.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Rebuilding and migrating existing reports out of Snowflake and into Power BI
• Designing and building semantic data models that hold up under real business use, not just for the report you’re working on today
• Writing and optimizing DAX for calculations, measures, and performance - this isn’t a “basic formulas” role
• Digging into the data layer itself, not just the visuals, to make sure metrics stay consistent and accurate through the migration
• Writing SQL to understand, validate, and work with source data as part of the modeling process
• Identifying inconsistencies between the old and new environments before they turn into a business problem
• Working closely with stakeholders to confirm that migrated metrics actually match what the business expects to see

• Advanced Power BI development experience - DAX, data modeling, and performance optimization, not just report building
• A real understanding of the semantic layer, not just the visualization layer - you know how metrics are defined and maintained, not just how they’re displayed
• Strong SQL skills, deep enough to validate and troubleshoot data at the source
• Experience with report or platform migrations, ideally involving Snowflake or a similar cloud data warehouse
• A track record of building data models that other people can actually trust and maintain
• Comfort working through ambiguity - migrations often surface data issues that weren’t visible before, and you’ll need to be the one who catches them
