Senior Enterprise Data Architect

As a Senior Enterprise Data Architect, you will lead the development and execution of enterprise-wide data architecture strategy, ensuring a secure, scalable, and governed data foundation that enables data-driven decision-making and creates long-term business value. You will collaborate closely with business data stakeholders, data product teams, and cross-functional technology teams. Your role will be fundamental in aligning data architecture initiatives with business objectives while maintaining best practices in data governance and management.

• Define and maintain enterprise data architecture strategy, including data models, integration frameworks, governance standards, and data lifecycle management in alignment with business goals.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders and data product teams to translate organizational needs into scalable, technical data solutions that deliver business value.
• Develop and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models to provide consistency and scalability across the enterprise architecture.
• Establish and enforce data governance processes, including data quality, security, compliance, and metadata management.
• Lead architectural reviews to ensure solutions adhere to enterprise data standards and best practices.
• Identify opportunities to optimize the data ecosystem by reducing redundancy, improving integration, and increasing accessibility and usability.
• Enable reuse of data assets, schemas, and patterns to accelerate project delivery and improve operational efficiency.
• Evaluate and oversee the proof-of-concept initiatives for emerging data technologies such as cloud-native data platforms, AI-driven analytics, and real-time data processing solutions.
• Manage enterprise data architecture tools and repositories, including data catalogs and metadata platforms.
• Serve as a key liaison between data product teams, solution architects, and business stakeholders to drive alignment and communication.
• Drive the Data Architecture Community of Practice, promoting collaboration and industry thought leadership across the enterprise.
• Develop, document, and maintain data architecture standards and guidelines for use across the organization.
• Communicate data strategies and business drivers clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Manage the enterprise data portfolio, providing recommendations for platform upgrades, staff training, and adoption of new technologies.
• Support organizational emergency operation planning by ensuring data availability and integrity during critical operations.

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Science, or related field from an accredited institution required.
• Minimum of 12 years of experience in information technology, with at least 7 years in data architecture or enterprise data management roles.
• TOGAF certification is mandatory.
• Deep expertise in data architecture design, data modeling, integration frameworks, and data governance standards.
• Experience collaborating across multiple business units, data engineering, security, and infrastructure teams.
• Proficiency with enterprise data management tools such as Collibra, Informatica, Alation, or similar platforms.
• Strong experience with cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
• Familiarity with data governance frameworks and knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
• Experience using data modeling tools, including ERwin, PowerDesigner, or similar applications.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, especially in addressing complex data challenges.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to operate across technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to work on-site four days a week in Houston, TX., * Master’s degree in a related field (preferred).
• Experience in regulated industries such as electric or gas utilities (preferred).
• Experience in change management, release management, and data lifecycle management practices (preferred).
• Ability to perform effectively in a dynamic, evolving work environment, including occasional extended hours as needed.
• Proficiency with standard office equipment and virtual collaboration tools.
