Job description

The IT Director provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for all information technology functions across WIELAND’s multi-state construction operations. This position is responsible for the planning, implementation, security, support, and continuous improvement of technology systems supporting corporate offices, regional offices, and project sites.

The IT Director leads technology strategy, cybersecurity initiatives, infrastructure management, business applications, vendor relationships, and IT staff while ensuring reliable, secure, and cost-effective technology solutions that support WIELAND’s business objectives, growth strategy, and construction operations., * Lead the organization’s digital transformation in the construction industry, identifying and deploying technologies to improve productivity, margins, and competitive differentiation.

  • Partner with executive leadership and project teams to translate operational needs into technology roadmaps, budgets and measurable outcomes.
  • Define and execute WIELAND’s IT strategy in alignment with corporate business objectives.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the IT Department communicating clear, challenging, and measurable goals.
  • Own the IT budget, including capital operating expenditures, license management, and total-cost-of-ownership analysis.
  • Develop and maintain an integrated operational backbone that unifies construction management, ERP, CRM, and workforce systems into reliable, accessible enterprise data.

Vendor & Contract Management

  • Evaluate vendor performance and costs to ensure WIELAND secures market-competitive rates, minimizes risks and retains best-in-class partners.
  • Manage relationships with service providers, software vendors, telecommunications providers, and cloud service partners.
  • Negotiate contracts and service-level agreements that protect WIELAND’s interests and ensure dependable delivery.

Cybersecurity & Compliance

  • Establish and maintain WIELAND’s cybersecurity posture, policies, controls and incident response plans in support of the organizations risk management practices.
  • Implement and sustain compliance with DoD security protocols, NIST SP 800-171, CMMC Level 2, and JCP (Joint Certification Program / DD Form 2345) requirements for controlled and technical data.
  • Oversee security awareness training for all employees.
  • Lead vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and security audits.
  • Serve as the firm’s technical lead for maintaining CMMC Level 2 certification, including continuous control implementation, evidence management, System Security Plan (SSP) and POA&M upkeep, annual affirmations, and readiness for third-party (C3PAO) assessments.
  • CUI Handling: responsible for safeguarding Controlled Unclassified Information per NIST SP 800-171 and company policy, including proper access controls, encryption, secure storage/transfer, logging incident reporting and audit readiness.

Construction Technology & End-User Support

  • Drive system integration and interoperability across platforms to eliminate data silos and create a single, trusted source of enterprise information.
  • Oversee the administration and integration into WIELAND’s CM (Construction Management) Software, ensuring field and office workflows are connected and data flows reliably.
  • Administer and optimize the SaaS (Software as a Service) environment, including governance, licensing, and reporting/dashboards.
  • Oversee and support ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) environments for Finance, HR, and Safety to support integrations, resource planning, and organizational visibility.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of company hardware, from procurement and provisioning through retirement.
  • Oversee MDM (mobile device management), corporate wireless plans, and connectivity for a distributed, highly mobile workforce.
  • Travel to remote project sites when necessary to commission jobsite technology infrastructure for project mobilizations.
  • Implement and ensure reliable site connectivity is in place, supporting network hardware in locations with limited or no existing infrastructure.
  • Ensure reliable help-desk and end-user support for corporate and field staff.
  • Develop and maintain backup/disaster-recovery infrastructure to ensure business continuity, ensure recovery testing is performed regularly.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • 10 years of progressive IT experience.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience managing technology teams.
  • Experience managing cybersecurity programs and cloud-based environments.
  • Working knowledge of DoD security protocols and federal compliance frameworks including NIST SP 800-171, CMMC Level 2, and the Joint Certification Program (DD Form 2345), with demonstrated experience maintaining or achieving CMMC Level 2 certification.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to jobsites approximately 25-40% of the time.
