Job description
We are launching the most important product program in our history: a fully planned, funded, next-generation altimeter platform - and we are hiring the engineer who will lead it. The product plan is written. The budget is committed. What’s missing is the technical leader who takes it from plan to production.
This is a rare shape of role: the technical ownership of a startup product launch, inside a profitable company with seven decades of brand trust and an existing global customer base waiting for the product.
What you’ll do
-
Own technical execution of the new platform - from the written product plan through prototypes, certification, and production release
-
Build and lead a distributed engineering team: a new engineering group in Europe plus our US engineering resources - you set the architecture, standards, and review practices, and you have a real say in who gets hired
-
Architect and integrate embedded hardware and software; stay hands-on where it matters most
-
Work directly with our most senior engineer, whose decades of domain knowledge of altimetry, field conditions, and customer use are the foundation the new product builds on
-
Represent engineering with certification bodies, manufacturing, and key customers
-
Own schedules, phase gates, and deliverables - your bonus is tied to shipping milestones, not politics
Requirements
8+ years developing and shipping small electronic products, with embedded firmware (C/C++ on MCU-class hardware) at the core
-
Experience leading, mentoring, or coordinating other engineers - formal title not required; evidence required
-
Comfort working across the hardware/software boundary, including prototype bring-up, test procedures, and acceptance criteria
-
US Citizen or Permanent Resident (required, ITAR)
-
Able to work on-site at our DeLand, FL facility
Nice to have
-
Regulated development environments (ISO 9001, AS9100, DO-178, or similar)
-
Experience working with remote or distributed teams across time zones
-
Interest in aviation, skydiving, or flight instrumentation (several of us jump - you don’t have to)
