Job description

Technology Digest, Inc. is seeking a Senior Web Application Developer for a contract opportunity supporting a public-sector web development project.

The selected candidate will support the design, development, security, and maintenance of a new WordPress website. The project will focus on accessibility, usability, mobile responsiveness, long-term maintainability, and user-friendly design. The developer will work closely with a UX/UI Content Manager and project stakeholders to build website functionality, support content migration, resolve technical issues, and provide ongoing maintenance support.

This role is best suited for a developer with strong experience in WordPress, PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, accessibility standards, and front-end/back-end troubleshooting., Develop, configure, and maintain a WordPress website using WordPress core capabilities, Elementor, and third-party plugins.

Build new website features, reusable components, and functionality using PHP, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

Support WordPress theme and plugin creation or customization as needed.

Ensure the website is mobile responsive, accessible, secure, and maintainable.

Collaborate with UX/UI, content, and non-technical stakeholders to ensure deliverables meet design, content, and user experience standards.

Ensure website solutions follow web standards, accessibility best practices, and WCAG AA standards.

Support search functionality, file sharing capability, mobile browsing, and Google Analytics integration.

Assist with website content migration from existing websites, if required.

Troubleshoot front-end and back-end issues and address bug fixes as needed.

Support monthly maintenance, including technical support, minor updates, plugin/theme monitoring, and WordPress updates.

Follow managed WordPress guidelines and maintain clean, reusable, testable, and efficient code.

Requirements

Minimum 3 years of experience in systems analysis, programming, and design.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent work experience and training.

Strong coding knowledge in:

HTML CSS JavaScript PHP

Hands-on experience with WordPress development.

Experience with WordPress themes, plugins, and reusable components.

Understanding of design principles and web development best practices.

Familiarity with accessibility principles and WCAG AA standards.

Ability to troubleshoot front-end issues.

Familiarity with performance, scalability, security, and application testing.

Familiarity with design and architectural patterns.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.

Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Elementor.

Experience with WP Engine.

Experience with public-sector, public health, nonprofit, or public-facing websites.

Experience using translation frameworks.

Strong attention to accessibility, usability, and maintainability.

Self-directed and able to work with broad direction.

Strong problem-solving, communication, and relationship-building skills.

Pay: From $45.00 per hour
