Requirements

We are looking for an experienced data center engineer / network engineer to actively manage our data centers. Department: Project Location: Master’s Degree Compensation: TBD Responsibilities Maintain and build reliable, secure, and efficient data communication networks between our data center locations. Perform daily management and troubleshooting of network, LAN, WAN, and firewall environments. Set up and manage virtualization environments (Proxmox, KVM, and occasionally VMware). Install, configure, and support our local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and the internet systems of our corporate group or a segment of a network system. Must be able to deploy, configure, maintain, and monitor all active network devices to ensure smooth network operations. Monitor our networks to ensure network availability for all system users and, if necessary, perform the required maintenance to support network availability. Install and integrate new server hardware and applications; monitor network performance (availability, utilization, throughput, and latency); and test for vulnerabilities. Define network policies and procedures. Network modeling, analysis, planning, and coordination between network and data communications hardware and software. Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware, software, or other network and system issues, and have defective components replaced on-site by our Remote Hands team as needed. Monitor system resource usage, trend analysis, and capacity planning Provide Level 2/3 support and troubleshooting to resolve issues Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure that changes to the network infrastructure are acknowledged, approved, and implemented successfully Select and implement security tools, policies, and procedures in collaboration with the corporate group’s security team and customers Liaise with vendors, IT team members, and, where appropriate, customers to resolve issues. Ability to document and evaluate the current site server configuration and user requirements, as well as to design and optimize server topologies. Specific expertise in VPCs (Virtual Private Clouds), subnets, routing tables, load balancers, and Content Delivery Networks (CDNs), as well as hybrid cloud architectures. Experience with virtualization, as well as strong Linux and Bash skills for automating recurring tasks. Ability to work with the necessary composure and focus even in stressful situations, and excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with others, both in writing and verbally.
