  • Develop Python microservices and tooling
  • Write and maintain AWS CDK infrastructure (Python)
  • Ensure AL/ML services are reliably deployed and scaled across environments
  • Participate in the full deployment lifecycle: develop, test, deploy across AWS accounts

Our platform is handling highly confidential information and keeping data secure is at the heart of everything we do. You should therefore have a methodical approach to software development and write high-quality code.

Requirements

  • Degree or equivalent in a technical subject
  • 3+ years of professional software engineering experience
  • C++ background (at least one role in work history involving substantive C++ development)
  • Comfortable working daily in TypeScript and Python alongside C++
  • Solid understanding of REST APIs and microservice architecture
  • Comfortable with CMake build systems
  • Proficient with Git (branching, rebasing, pull requests)
  • Good testing habits (unit tests, integration tests)
  • A private, distraction-free, dedicated home office in the UK with a fast internet connection
  • A home address within two hours travelling distance of Cardiff by public transport for attending meetings
  • Happy and productive on a Linux desktop (Ubuntu)
  • Comfortable with CLI-first workflows, shell scripting, and terminal-based development

Cloud & Infrastructure(Essential)

  • Practical cloud platform experience (AWS preferred; GCP or Azure also accepted)
  • Familiarity with serverless services (Lambda or equivalent), managed databases, CDNs, DNS, secrets management
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (AWS CDK or CloudFormation preferred, Terraform acceptable)
  • Comfortable with CI/CD pipelines and Docker

AI-Assisted Development (Critical)

  • Demonstrable experience using AI coding tools, specifically Cursor and/or Claude Code
  • Comfortable using AI tools as part of everyday development
  • Actively enthusiastic about AI-assisted workflows

Character & Working Style (Essential)

  • Able to communicate in English with a technical audience, both verbally and in writing
  • Team player who collaborates well in a small, close-knit engineering team
  • Enthusiastic and curious, genuinely interested in the product and the technology
  • Willing to move fluidly between languages as the task demands
  • Focused on delivering working software that meets the requirements

Nice to Have (Not Essential)

  • Open Banking experience (UK AIS/PIS/VRP, FCA regulation)
  • Payments industry knowledge (payment initiation, bank integrations, fraud/tripwire detection)
  • React experience (modern React, component libraries such as MUI)
  • Understanding of OAuth2/OIDC
  • Experience with DynamoDB data modelling

Benefits & conditions

  • Salary dependent on experience
  • Learning opportunities and technical challenges
  • Company pension scheme
  • Flexible hours, home working, 37.5 hours per week (must be within 2 hours travel of Cardiff)
  • In-person team days every few months
  • 25 days annual holiday (plus public holidays)
  • Extra £312 per year tax-free for home office expenses
