Job description

At Aston Martin, technology is at the heart of our transformation. As a Senior Platform Engineer, you will play a key role in shaping and evolving our IT landscape-moving us from legacy systems to modern, cloud-first platforms that support innovation across the business.

This is not a traditional engineering role. You will step into a complex environment and take ownership of making it better-simplifying, optimising, and unlocking real business value.

You will take responsibility for the performance, stability, security and cost optimisation of a hybrid IT estate spanning Azure, AWS and on-premise environments.

Working across cloud and infrastructure platforms, you will identify inefficiencies, remove complexity and drive improvements that deliver measurable impact. This includes modernising cloud environments, enhancing observability, embedding automation and ensuring platforms are built to operate effectively from day one.

You will act as a senior escalation point for complex technical challenges, focusing on resolving root causes rather than temporary fixes. At the same time, you will define standards, governance and best practices that enable teams to move quickly while maintaining stability and security.

Collaboration will be key, as you work closely with architecture, security, operations and delivery teams to solve problems early and ensure successful outcomes., As the role evolves, there will be clear opportunities to progress into senior platform leadership or cloud architecture positions, allowing you to shape both the technology landscape and the direction of the function.

Requirements

You are an experienced platform engineer who naturally takes ownership and looks beyond day-to-day operations to drive meaningful improvement. You are comfortable working across hybrid environments and bring a strong blend of hands-on technical expertise and strategic thinking.

You have proven experience working with cloud platforms such as Azure and AWS alongside on-premise infrastructure, including Windows-based environments, virtualisation and enterprise storage solutions. You are confident in automation practices and Infrastructure as Code, with a mindset focused on efficiency, consistency and scalability.

You approach problem-solving with a data-led mindset, using insight and evidence to guide decisions. You are equally comfortable working independently or influencing across teams, always aiming to raise standards and deliver lasting value.
