Job description
- Provide hands-on IDMS Database Administration (DBA) support for application and infrastructure databases.

Work closely with:
- Application Development Teams
- Clemson z/OS System Support Staff
- Clemson Database Administration Team
- Monitor, administer, and support IDMS databases following industry best practices.
- Ensure database availability, reliability, and operational stability.
Database Operations & Performance
- Maintain development, test, staging, and production IDMS databases.
- Develop and maintain database operational procedures and standards.
- Enable, configure, and tune IDMS features for optimal database performance.
- Monitor database performance and generate performance reports.
- Analyze database metrics and recommend performance improvements.
- Implement performance tuning strategies within the IBM z/OS mainframe environment.
Database Design & Development Support

Advise application development and product teams on:
- Database design
- Data model extensions
- Database schema modifications
- Best practices for database implementation
- Support both native IDMS and SQL-based database environments.
- Collaborate with development teams to ensure efficient database integration.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Management

Coordinate with:
- Third-party vendors
- Service providers
- Professional organizations
- State agencies
- Internal technical teams
- Provide technical guidance and database expertise throughout project lifecycles.
- Participate in cross-functional planning and implementation activities.
Production Support
- Participate in a 24x7 on-call support rotation.
- Troubleshoot production database issues.
- Resolve database incidents and performance problems.
- Support critical enterprise applications running on the IBM mainframe platform.

- 15+ years of experience deploying and administering CA IDMS databases in IBM z/OS environments.
- Extensive experience supporting enterprise-class IDMS database environments.
IDMS SQL
- 10+ years of experience with IDMS SQL Option.

Experience:
- Creating SQL-based IDMS databases
- Supporting relational IDMS databases
- Implementing SQL access to native IDMS databases
Security Administration

15+ years of experience implementing and managing IDMS security, including:
- ADS/O application security
- IDD security
- Relational database object security
Application Development

15+ years of experience programming against IDMS databases using:
- COBOL
- ADS/O

Experience with both:
- Native IDMS databases
- SQL-based IDMS databases
Mainframe Programming
- 12+ years of experience with IBM High-Level Assembler (HLASM) on IBM z/OS.
Performance Monitoring

10+ years of experience using IDMS Perfmon for:
- Online monitoring
- Performance reporting
- Database performance analysis
Additional Skills
- Strong understanding of enterprise IT development and implementation projects.
