Job description

The Systems Administrator I performs multiple functions to ensure IT infrastructure is available, reliable, secure, and stable either individually or under the guidance of experienced personnel. This role will be responsible for monitoring systems and serving as a focal point for support., * Maintains systems including installing and testing new releases.

  • Monitors and evaluates operating efficiency, analyze performance and tuning.
  • Mitigates application and operating system vulnerabilities to ensure security of information systems.
  • Analyzes system problems to identify problem areas.
  • Follows established procedures required for efficient management of the infrastructure.
  • Maintains appropriate records including statistical reports, inventories, and technical documentation among others.
  • Installs new or enhanced applications and/or hardware; assist in the installation of servers.
  • Supports small to medium projects according to division standards.
  • Remains knowledgeable of industry direction to apply to the business.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in the field of Information Systems, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering, with a minimum of 24 semester hours of computer-related courses, or two additional years of direct work experience
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
  • Ability to work remote, hybrid, or on-site as directed by management and is determined by the needs of the business
  • Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job
  • United States Citizenship
  • Ability to obtain and maintain, if required for position, a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance (some positions require additional DOE designations)

We Value

  • Understands fundamentals of specific operating systems (Red Hat Enterprise Linux or Windows Server).
  • Basic knowledge and experience in scripting tools (like PowerShell, Puppet, Perl, Python) to support database, web and application administration.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills for identifying and resolving technical problems.
