Job description

Tulane University is seeking a highly skilled and forward-thinking Technology Architect to design, build, and evolve a modern, scalable, and secure research computing ecosystem that supports the University’s diverse and rapidly growing research community., This role is responsible for end-to-end architecture across compute, storage, networking, platforms, cloud and software services -encompassing Windows, Linux, HPC clusters, virtualization platforms, enterprise applications, hybrid/multi-cloud environments and any associated software stack. The architect will play a critical role in translating research proposals and grant requirements into standard technical solutions and leveraged infrastructure and services where possible, including environments supporting regulated and federally funded workloads such as CMMC Level 2 (L2) compliance and GovCloud deployments. The services should be built for leveragability, scalability and economy of scale.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or a related field OR an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Significant experience in systems architecture, enterprise infrastructure, platform design or related IT roles., * Direct experience designing or supporting CMMC Level 2 (or equivalent NIST 800-171) compliant environments
  • Experience with AWS GovCloud, Azure Government, or similar regulated cloud environments
  • Familiarity with DoD research funding requirements and secure data handling practices
  • Experience building secure research enclaves or regulated computing zones in higher education or federal environments

  • Strong knowledge of enterprise systems, servers, storage, networking, operating systems, virtualization, cloud services, and integrations.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles, identity and access management, disaster recovery and system resiliency.
  • Strong analytical, organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with technical teams and leadership.
