Job description

You will lead data protection and privacy across Rendall & Rittner as part of the Odevo Group, shaping how we safeguard resident, client and colleague data. From a home-based setting, you will be the centre of excellence for GDPR compliance, translating regulation into practical, people-friendly processes that work at scale.

Proactive and organised, you will anticipate risks before they surface, drive continuous improvement and foster a culture of privacy by design. You will partner with leaders, operations and technology teams to embed robust controls while enabling the business to move quickly and confidently.

ROLE EXPECTATIONS

Most days you will review and refine policies, advise on projects and contracts, oversee data mapping and DPIAs, and respond to rights requests and incident reports. You will monitor compliance metrics, run training and awareness campaigns, and act as a trusted advisor to stakeholders across the UK business and Odevo Group functions. You will balance hands-on delivery with strategic planning, keeping us audit-ready at all times.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

  • Clear, current and consistently applied privacy policies and procedures across the business.
  • Accurate records of processing, risk registers and DPIAs that are up to date and actioned.
  • Subject access requests and incidents handled promptly, lawfully and with excellent communication.
  • Contracts and vendor due diligence that demonstrably protect personal data and reduce risk.
  • Engaged stakeholders who understand their responsibilities through training and practical guidance.
  • Positive internal audits and regulatory interactions, with measurable year-on-year improvement.

HOW YOU’LL SPEND MOST OF YOUR TIME

  • Owning and updating the data protection framework, policies, notices and retention schedules.
  • Maintaining records of processing, leading DPIAs and advising on privacy by design.
  • Managing SARs, data rights requests and breach/incident response through to resolution.
  • Reviewing contracts and DPAs, and assessing third-party and international transfer risks.
  • Planning and delivering training, toolbox talks and targeted awareness campaigns.
  • Monitoring compliance, preparing reports for leadership and coordinating audits.

EXPERIENCE THAT HELPS

  • Practical GDPR and UK data protection experience in a multi-site or service-led organisation.
  • Hands-on delivery of DPIAs, ROPAs, SARs and incident response.
  • Designing and running privacy training and awareness programmes.
  • Reviewing supplier contracts and data processing arrangements, including international transfers.
  • Using privacy or compliance tools to track actions, metrics and audit evidence., All applicants must be eligible to live and work in the UK. Documentary evidence of eligibility will be required.
