Job description

  • Contribute to the conception, development, implementation, and optimization of novel learning-based video compression algorithms, including neural video coding, learned motion representation, and entropy modeling.
  • Evaluate and improve neural and hybrid compression systems using state-of-the-art machine learning techniques and rate-distortion optimization.
  • Represent Qualcomm in related standardization forums including JVET, MPEG Video, and ITU-T/VCEG.
  • Document and present new algorithms and implementations through standards contributions, patent applications, conference papers, presentations, and journal publications.

Requirements

  • Developed innovative machine learning algorithms, preferably related to learned image/video compression, computer vision, or generative AI.
  • Knowledge of the theory, algorithms, and techniques used in video coding, rate-distortion optimization, and neural compression.
  • Experience with video compression standards such as VVC/H.266, HEVC/H.265, AV1, or emerging neural video coding technologies.
  • Track record of successful research accomplishments demonstrated through publications at leading conferences and/or patent applications.
  • Excellent programming skills including Python and C/C++, combined with experience using machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch.

Qualifications:

  • PhD or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Machine Learning, Applied Mathematics, or related fields.
  • Experience developing and evaluating machine learning models for compression, computer vision, or multimedia applications., * Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field and 4+ years of Hardware Engineering, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience., Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field and 3+ years of Hardware Engineering, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience. OR PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field and 2+ years of Hardware Engineering, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience.

Pay range and Other Compensation & Benefits : $158,400.00 - $237,600.00

The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted.
