Job description

The Senior Solutions Engineer is responsible for understanding customer business and technical requirements and designing end-to-end satellite communication solutions that meet and exceed customer expectations. Acting as a key technical partner to Sales, the role provides pre-sales consultancy, solution design, and customer-facing technical leadership while leveraging SES’s GEO and MEO satellite networks. The successful candidate combines strong engineering expertise with commercial acumen to solve complex challenges, deliver value-driven solutions, and contribute to revenue growth and customer success. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES / KEY RESULT AREAS

  • Review customer business and technical requirements and design connectivity solutions leveraging SES GEO and MEO satellite capabilities.
  • Identify customer challenges and recommend practical, value-driven technical solutions that address their operational and business needs.
  • Partner with Sales to understand customer requirements, support opportunity development, and contribute to winning proposals and presentations.
  • Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Operations, and other internal stakeholders to develop and deliver customer solutions.
  • Perform communication system design and feasibility assessments for satellite and terrestrial networks.
  • Review link budget analyses prepared by the Link Engineering team and provide guidance and recommendations as required.
  • Participate in customer meetings and technical discussions, acting as a trusted technical advisor during the sales process.
  • Support contract renewals and business growth opportunities by ensuring appropriate technical solutions are developed and communicated.
  • Maintain accurate sales engineering activities and opportunity information within CRM systems such as Dynamics 365 and Salesforce.
  • Support post-sales activities that require direct customer engagement and technical coordination.
  • Stay informed on SES products, services, technologies, and industry developments, and share knowledge with colleagues where appropriate.
  • Travel within the region as required to support customer engagements and business needs.
  • Occasionally work outside standard business hours when necessary to meet customer or business requirements.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Knowledge of satellite communications systems, technologies, and services.
  • Ability to develop and review satellite link budget analyses using SES engineering tools.
  • Working knowledge of digital communications, RF signal theory, satellite network architectures, and VSAT platforms.
  • Understanding of TCP/IP networking and common network protocols, including multicast, VoIP, IPsec, and QoS.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to collaborate across functional teams and build strong customer relationships.
  • Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to delivering high-quality solutions., * Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience, including exposure to satellite communications, telecommunications, broadcasting, networking, or related industries.
  • Experience in satellite ground segment, broadcasting, telecommunications, or technical pre-sales environments.
  • Knowledge of satellite capacity management, systems engineering, solution design, or customer-facing engineering functions.
  • Experience developing or reviewing satellite link budget analyses.
  • Working knowledge of digital communications, RF systems, satellite networking, VSAT technologies, and IP networking concepts.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to communicate effectively with both customers and internal stakeholders.
