Job description

You will ensure the reliability, security, and performance of mission-critical applications and infrastructure, combining hands-on troubleshooting with leadership in system administration and solution development.

Primary job duties include:

  • Serving as the system administrator for mission-critical enterprise applications, including installation, configuration, and ongoing maintenance
  • Monitoring assigned applications to ensurestrong performance, availability, and reliability
  • Supporting both cloud-based and on-premises technologies, including troubleshooting and root-cause analysis across systems, networks, and applications
  • Managing file shares and servers as part of overall incident response and system support
  • Ensuring applications and systems meet SCDOR security standards through patching, hardening, and compliance reviews
  • Recommending and implementing remediation actions to address security vulnerabilities
  • Working with stakeholders to deliver solutions for new and existing systems
  • Leading or supporting project efforts through requirements gathering, testing, implementation, and documentation
  • Researching emerging technologies and system updates and advising leadership on potential improvements
  • Collaborating with team members to ensure cross-training and shared system knowledge to support business continuity

Requirements

Do you have experience in IT department experience?, Do you have a Associate’s degree?, * Confident in their ability to manage mission-critical systems with minimal supervision

  • Comfortable serving as the go-to expert for Microsoft 365 admin centers and system integrations
  • Strong communicators who can clearly explain technical issues to both technical and on-technical users
  • Organized and responsive, especially when managing priorities in a high-stakes environment
  • Calm under pressure and able to stay focused when solving high-impact problems, * A bachelor’s degree in information technology systems, computer science, or a related field and experience in information technology systems or a related area OR
  • An associate’s degree in information technology systems, computer science, or a related field and two years of experience in information technology systems or a related area OR
  • Four years of experience ininformation technology systems or a related area

Academic degrees must be from an accredited institution of higher learning., * Four years of experience in automated information, cloud applications, or communications systems design, installation, operation, or repair

  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft 365 Admin Centers to include Exchange, Teams, SharePoint, and Power Platform
  • Expert knowledge with Active Directory, Azure Active Directory, Microsoft Windows Server OS, and Server hardware
  • Fundamental operational knowledge of hardware and cloud-based software systems

  • Flexibility to work extra hours or hours outside the normal schedule will be required to support mission-critical systems. You will be required to be on an on-call rotation to be reached 24/7. Some overnight travel may be required.
  • Telework schedule: This position may be eligible to work remotely up to two days per week after one year of employment with SCDOR.
