Job description

We are looking for a Software Engineer to help build our internal technology ecosystem. This role will be responsible for maintaining and expanding our database architecture, EDI connections, API integrations, and centralized reporting platform built on top of our data layer.

This person will collaborate across multiple teams-including Operations, Pricing, Carrier Procurement, Finance, and Executive Leadership-to ensure our technology foundation is stable, scalable, and aligned with the company’s long-term strategy.

This role blends software integration, data engineering, and system design with a deep understanding of logistics workflows. It is ideal for someone who enjoys solving operational problems with well-designed technical solutions.

What You Will Own

Database -MySQL / BigQuery - schema design and database architecture

Data Pipelines - TMS webhook ingestion, RingCentral API, Salesforce API, Xero API, Bamboo API, Microsoft Graph API, DAT API, Turvo API, Slack API, SFTP knowledge, ERP integration(s)

  • Feeding 3 projects on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) - Customer, Carrier, Operations
  • 50+ cloud run services deployed via powershell GCP
  • Triggered by Cloud Scheduler handling o Operational workflows across various departments o Database updates o Reporting

Reporting - Automated email reports - internal and external facing capabilities + manual reporting assistance

  • All automated reports pull dynamically from database to determine recipients.
  • Non automated reporting via Colab scripts or excel

Frontend

  • Collaborate internally to enhance current platform
  • Dashboards for employees to see performance metrics
  • Create wrapper over TMS for a more controlled & streamlined user experience

Release Follow Up

  • Assist with developing this process, this feedback is valuable from the team
  • Roundtables held as time allows, * You streamline and document our database architecture and implement best-practice ETL workflows.

  • You eliminate manual work across multiple teams through automation while increasing loads per head per day

  • You expand our reporting platform and give the team faster, deeper visibility to metrics that matter most

Requirements

Technical Skills

  • 3+ years in integration engineering, data engineering, or backend development

  • Strong experience with REST & GRAPH APIs (designing, consuming, troubleshooting)

  • Proficiency with Python or GO

  • Strong SQL skills (MariaDB/MySQL environment)

  • Experience building and maintaining ETL pipelines

  • Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)

  • Understanding of data warehousing concepts

  • GitHub / Repo management knowledge

Logistics Knowledge

  • Experience in transportation, logistics, or supply chain systems

  • Familiarity with concepts like tendering, tracking, PODs, capacity, brokerage workflows

Soft Skills

  • Strong documentation discipline

  • Ability to communicate technical topics to non-technical teams

  • Comfortable working independently and exploring unfamiliar systems

  • Bias toward automation and efficiency

  • High ownership mindset

Nice-to-Have Experience

  • Prior work with Turvo (API, webhooks, data exports)

  • Knowledge of MySQL & Big Query

  • Experience working with external development partners

  • Experience building user-facing internal tools or admin dashboards
