Job description

Worth Hydrochem of Houston is seeking a Flow Design Engineer to join our Mechanical Flushing division. This is an engineering-focused role responsible for developing the mechanical fluid system flow diagrams that support our customer proposals and bid process. Your designs are a critical part of how we win work - the accuracy and clarity of your calculations directly impacts our ability to secure projects with data centers, hospitals, transportation facilities, and educational institutions.

Mechanical flushing projects involve preparing and commissioning newly constructed piping systems (HVAC, cooling, and related fluid systems) prior to occupancy. This is done by temporarily installing pumps and piping to flush the systems clean of construction debris and contaminants. Projects typically run 1-4 weeks and require careful engineering to determine the right flow velocities, pressures, and equipment configurations for each unique piping layout.

This is a great opportunity for an engineer - whether fresh out of school or with a few years of experience - who wants to apply core engineering fundamentals to real, physical systems that get built in the field.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

· Review project scopes and construction drawings to understand existing piping systems and layouts

· Design mechanical flow diagrams (line diagrams/schematics) showing fluid velocities, pressures, temporary connections, and pump placement

· Perform engineering calculations across varying pipe sizes to determine correct flow rates and system performance

· Develop flow plans that balance technical accuracy with practical, buildable field solutions

· Support the proposal and bid process by delivering clear, professional, customer-ready diagrams

· Collaborate with project managers and field teams to ensure designs translate accurately to on-site execution, This role puts real engineering fundamentals to work on systems that actually get built - your calculations and diagrams go straight into proposals that win business and get executed in the field on projects that matter, from hospitals to data centers. It’s a strong fit for someone who wants a technical challenge and visible impact without needing a PE license to do meaningful design work.

Requirements

· Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Engineering (required); Mechanical Engineering preferred

· Professional Engineer (PE) license not required

· Strong understanding of flow dynamics, piping systems, and system diagrams

· Drafting experience (CAD or similar)

· Ability to perform engineering calculations across multiple pipe sizes and configurations

· Pump operations experience a plus

· Familiarity with RO (reverse osmosis) unit operation a plus

· Understanding of water treatment fundamentals (water softeners, etc.) a plus

· Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple project designs at once

· Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven proposal environment, * Do you have a bachelor’s or associate’s degree in engineering?
