Job description

  • Serve as the product owner for key data platforms and applications, including SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC), Azure Data Factory, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) / BigQuery.
  • Own the product roadmap, ensuring solutions align with business needs, customer requirements, and the Data & Analytics strategy.
  • Act as the main interface between business stakeholders, engineering teams, and platform owners to define features, enhancements, priorities, and release plans.
  • Ensure data products and pipelines are reliable, high-quality, and optimized for performance, usability, and scale.
  • Lead requirement definition, backlog prioritization, user story creation, and acceptance criteria for data-related features and operational enhancements.
  • Drive continuous improvement of data products and operational workflows across multiple tools and teams.

This is a site-based role, employees work 3+ days (60%+) per week from a Viasat office or work location within a standard five-day workweek.

The day-to-day:

  • Gather and translate business needs into clear product requirements for SAC dashboards, Azure Data Factory pipelines, and BigQuery-based analytics solutions.
  • Partner with engineering teams to validate designs, troubleshoot issues, manage releases, and ensure successful delivery.
  • Support (predominantly) U.S. business customers, providing guidance, triage, and functional expertise across multiple applications.
  • Monitor product performance, adoption, and user feedback to inform backlog updates and future enhancements.
  • Manage operational tasks such as access requests, permission reviews, change control, platform health checks, and release readiness.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional partners (Data Engineering, BI Developers, Security, Program Management, IT Operations).
  • Maintain documentation, SOPs, and product artifacts to ensure clarity and consistency across the organization.

What you’ll need:

  • Experience as a product owner, data product manager, or technical lead in analytics or data platforms.
  • Hands-on familiarity with:

  • SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) - dashboards, models, permissions, scheduling
  • Azure Data Factory - pipelines, orchestration, troubleshooting
  • GCP / BigQuery - datasets, performance basics, SQL fundamentals

Strong understanding of data concepts (ETL/ELT, data quality, governance, lifecycle management).

Requirements

Ability to work directly with customers to understand needs, solve issues, and guide platform best practices., Excellent communication, prioritization, and stakeholder-management skills., Comfort working across multiple applications in a fast-paced, customer-support-focused environment, * Experience supporting or owning analytics products in a corporate or enterprise environment.

  • Working knowledge of cloud data architectures (Azure, GCP) and pipeline design patterns.
  • Familiarity with Agile delivery, backlog management, and user story writing.
  • Basic SQL skills for quick checks, data validation, and troubleshooting.
  • Understanding of data governance concepts, security models, and role-based access.
  • A proactive, customer-centric attitude with the ability to anticipate needs and identify improvements.
  • Ability to work effectively across time zones and collaborate with distributed teams.

Benefits & conditions

Salary range: $110,500.00 - $174,500.00 / annually. For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $137,000.00- $206,000.00/ annually : At Viasat, we consider many factors when it comes to compensation, including the scope of the position as well as your background and experience. Base pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Additional cash or stock incentives may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
