Renowned 11 to 18 state secondary academy based in Sunderland Attendance & Pastoral Support Officer to lead student attendance tracking and safeguarding support Full-time role (Term-Time Only) | September start Our client is seeking an ambitious and forward-thinking Attendance Officer to join an established school in Sunderland from September. This is a full-time position, ideal for a strong practitioner with proven pastoral impact and a clear vision for improving student engagement and tracking metrics. The successful candidate will lead the day-to-day monitoring of register data and student absence patterns across the school. You will oversee daily parent communications, collaborate with heads of year, tutors, and education welfare officers to design targeted intervention plans, and ensure meticulous compliance on the school’s Management Information System (MIS) for statutory panels. Requirements

Previous experience in school attendance, pastoral support, or an administrative role involving direct family liaison Complete confidence utilizing school management databases (such as SIMS or Arbor) to run queries and analyze data Outstanding communication skills, with a professional, empathetic, and resilient approach to challenging conversations Strong knowledge of local authority attendance protocols and school safeguarding guidelines
