Job description

At Spec’s Wines, Spirits & Finer Foods, technology powers more than 200 retail locations, distribution facilities, and corporate operations across Texas. Our IT team delivers reliable technology solutions that keep our stores operating efficiently and our employees connected.

As an IT Field Services Technician, you’ll work with a wide range of enterprise and retail technologies while providing hands-on support to end users across the organization. This is an excellent opportunity for an IT professional who enjoys solving problems, working independently, and making a direct impact on business operations.

What You’ll Do

As a member of our IT Field Services team, you will:

  • Provide on-site technical support for hardware, software, networking, and retail technology.
  • Install, configure, and support Windows 11 workstations and Microsoft 365 environments.
  • Support Microsoft technologies including Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), Microsoft Intune, Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, and OneDrive.
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot network infrastructure including switches, routers, wireless access points, VPNs, and firewalls.
  • Support retail technology including point-of-sale systems, payment terminals, receipt printers, barcode scanners, cash drawers, and customer-facing displays.
  • Deploy, configure, and replace desktop computers, laptops, printers, scanners, mobile devices, and other endpoint hardware.
  • Support VMware virtualization environments and assist with server and infrastructure maintenance.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, asset inventory, and Service Desk tickets.
  • Educate users on technology and security best practices.
  • Participate in technology projects including new store openings, hardware refreshes, infrastructure upgrades, and company-wide deployments.
  • Travel daily to company locations throughout Texas, with occasional overnight travel as needed.
  • Participate in a required weekend and on-call support rotation., * Gain hands-on experience with Microsoft 365, Azure, Windows, Linux, networking, virtualization, and retail systems.
  • Participate in exciting technology initiatives including new store openings, infrastructure upgrades, and enterprise deployments.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two (2) years of IT desktop, field service, or technical support experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows 11 administration and troubleshooting.
  • Experience supporting Microsoft 365.
  • Experience with Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), and Microsoft Intune.
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs, and wireless networking.
  • Basic Linux operating system and command-line knowledge.
  • Experience using Service Desk or ticketing systems.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while working independently.
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and a good driving record.
  • Ability to participate in an on-call rotation and respond to urgent support needs outside normal business hours.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Microsoft, or similar certifications.
  • Microsoft Azure experience.
  • PowerShell or other scripting experience.
  • Experience with VoIP systems and cybersecurity.
  • Experience with Fortinet, Cisco, Meraki, Ubiquiti UniFi, or similar networking platforms.
  • Experience with VMware and/or Hyper-V.
  • Experience supporting multi-site organizations.

Physical Requirements

  • Lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Install and relocate desktop computers, printers, switches, servers, and other technology equipment.
  • Crawl under desks and work in confined spaces.
  • Climb ladders when necessary.
  • Rack and mount network equipment.
  • Run, terminate, label, and organize network cabling.
  • Stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods.
  • Safely operate a motor vehicle while traveling between company locations.
