Job description

Mosaic Health is seeking a Manager of Clinical Applications responsible for the strategic planning, implementation, optimization, support, and governance of clinical software applications across the organization.

This role leads a team of clinical application analysts and specialists working collaboratively with clinical leaders, information technology, and operational departments to ensure technology solutions effectively support patient care, regulatory compliance, and organizational objectives.

The Manager serves as the primary liaison between clinical operations and IT, ensuring that clinical applications are reliable, secure, user-friendly, and aligned with best practices in healthcare technology across Mosaic, CareMore, Vera Whole Health, and Millennium.

The Manager of Clinical Applications is expected to possess a strong technical foundation in healthcare applications and supporting technologies, enabling effective collaboration with clinical, infrastructure, cybersecurity, integration, and vendor teams. This role applies technical knowledge to support implementation, optimization, lifecycle management, interoperability, and ongoing performance of enterprise clinical systems while ensuring alignment with organizational strategy, regulatory requirements, and best practices., Strategic Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Clinical Application Analysts and Specialists.

  • Establish departmental goals, performance expectations, and professional development plans.

  • Manage staffing, scheduling, workload prioritization, and budget responsibilities.

  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Clinical Applications Management

  • Oversee the implementation, maintenance, enhancement, and support of clinical applications including Electronic Health Records (EHR), Laboratory Information Systems (LIS), Radiology Information Systems (RIS), Pharmacy systems, and other clinical technologies.

  • Develop and maintain application roadmaps aligned with organizational strategy.

  • Ensure system availability, performance, and reliability.

  • Coordinate application upgrades, patches, testing, and releases.

  • Manage application lifecycle planning and vendor relationships.

Project Leadership

  • Lead cross-functional implementation and optimization projects.

  • Coordinate project timelines, resource allocation, risk mitigation, and stakeholder communication.

  • Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.

  • Participate in organizational strategic planning initiatives involving clinical technology.

Clinical Workflow Optimization

  • Partner with physicians, nurses, ancillary departments, and operational leaders to improve workflows through technology.

  • Analyze clinical processes and recommend application enhancements.

  • Promote the adoption of evidence-based workflows and standardized documentation.

Compliance & Quality

  • Ensure clinical applications comply with regulatory requirements including HIPAA, CMS, Joint Commission, and applicable state and federal regulations.

  • Support cybersecurity initiatives related to clinical systems.

  • Develop policies, procedures, and documentation for application governance.

  • Participate in audits, disaster recovery planning, and business continuity efforts.

Vendor & Relationship Management

  • Serve as primary contact for clinical application vendors.

  • Manage vendor performance, contracts, issue resolution, and service level agreements.

  • Evaluate new technologies and software solutions.

  • Coordinate third-party integrations with enterprise systems.

Training & Change Management

  • Support organizational change management initiatives.

  • Collaborate with education teams to develop user training programs.

  • Ensure effective communication regarding system changes and upgrades.

  • Promote end-user engagement and satisfaction.

Reporting and Analytics

  • Monitor application performance metrics and key performance indicators.

  • Prepare reports for executive leadership regarding application utilization, support metrics, and project status.

  • Utilize data to identify improvement opportunities and measure outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, information technology, computer science, nursing informatics, or related fields.

  • 5-7 years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare technology, clinical systems, or interoperability, with at least 3 years managing enterprise healthcare technology teams.

  • Experience with healthcare interoperability standards and integration architectures including HL7, FHIR, CCD/CCDA, and API-based integration.

  • Demonstrated experience leading large-scale clinical technology implementations, optimizations, and interoperability initiatives.

  • Strong understanding of clinical workflows, healthcare operations, and regulatory compliance requirements.

  • Proven experience managing vendor relationships and enterprise technology contracts with cost and performance discipline.

  • Track record of leading cross-functional transformation initiatives in complex, multi-entity healthcare environments.

Preferred Experience & Certifications

  • Advanced degree in health informatics, healthcare administration, information technology, or equivalent.

  • PMP, CPHIMS, or CHDA certification.

  • Experience with multi-entity or integrated delivery network clinical systems governance.

Technical Fluency

  • Demonstrated technical fluency in healthcare information systems, including application architecture, interfaces, databases, and system integrations.

  • Working knowledge of interoperability standards such as HL7, FHIR, DICOM, CCD/C-CDA, and interface engines.

  • Understanding Active Directory, identity and access management, single sign-on (SSO), role-based security, and user provisioning.

  • Familiarity with SQL, reporting tools, dashboards, and data analytics to support operational and clinical decision-making.

  • Knowledge of cloud-based and on-premises application environments, virtualization, and infrastructure dependencies affecting clinical applications.

  • Understanding of IT service management (ITIL), change management, release management, and incident/problem management processes.

  • Ability to interpret technical documentation, logs, and system performance metrics to facilitate troubleshooting and root cause analysis.

  • Working knowledge of APIs, web services, and application integration methodologies.

  • Understanding of cybersecurity principles, vulnerability management, disaster recovery, business continuity, and HIPAA security requirements.

  • Ability to communicate concepts effectively to clinicians, executives, vendors, and IT professionals.

  • Experience evaluating emerging healthcare technologies, including artificial intelligence, clinical decision support, workflow automation, and digital health solutions, for operational and clinical value
